Ride with power.

Hincapie knows better than most how important bib shorts are, which is how the Power GT Bib Shorts became so refined. With a host of carefully chosen technical fabrics, they offer the moisture control and compressive fit that long rides demand. Or to put it another way, they blend comfort, support, and safety into one incredibly complete package.

Hincapie built the body of the Power GT shorts its AT2 Force Lycra Power fabric. AT2 Force Lycra was chosen for the leg panels, as it's a polyester and Lycra Power yarn blend that provides a supple, yet durable, feel. In addition to effectively wicking moisture away from your skin, this fabric provides compressive support, which that reduces muscle fatigue and helps promote positive blood flow to your muscles. This material also incorporates Coldblack technology. This is a finishing treatment that reduces the absorption of heat rays in darker fabrics, resulting in protection from the sun and improved heat management. Velocitek was chosen for the straps. This is a polyester and spandex stretch mesh that's tightly knitted as to provide excellent structure and moisture management.

For the hard-wearing inner-thigh and saddle areas, ABR Resistor Lycra was used. This material is known for its durability, as its specially knitted nylon, polyester, and Lycra yarns combine in order to provide a durable nylon outer surface that resists abrasion. A polyester liner on the inside of these panels adds further protection from friction, and quickly wicks moisture away from the skin. The bib shorts' cuffs features Hincapie's new HyperOptic Elastane material built directly into the sleek, no-elastic comfort leg bands. This multi-layered fabric combines stretch elastane with high visibility reflective safety material. In daylight, the dyed elastane colors are visible, while in low-light conditions these micro eyelets allow vehicle lights to reflect off of the reflective material, illuminating the fabric.

The insert incorporated into bib shorts is the ProTour Chamois. This insert utilizes a combination of variable density foam padding with perforated, high-density foam inserts to provide comfort, freedom of movement, and breathability.

Here's what others have to say...

Like Butter - these bibs are on a roll.

Hot mid-west days did little to slow down the cool moisture wicking properties of these bib shorts.

More embracing than a hug from your mom

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

So as it turns out, shaking my backside with nothing but these bib shorts on does very little for my wife. It is not for a lack of effort. Pre-ride, when I am fresh and clean, post-ride when I am lathered up in a sexy glistening of sweat, randomly in the middle of the day when I am not even going for a ride. I have yet to find a time or a place where the shaking of my backside in nice tight clinging spandex helps illicit basic primal urges from my wife. Why might this be of importance? Honestly it's not - it's just that these bibs are so darn awesome on the bike I was just hoping that the awesomeness might have some transcendent properties that could expand into other areas of life. But they don't - oh well.

As for on the bike - they rock. Let's be honest, there are times when size does matter when it comes to what you are packing in your pants. In this particular case the ProTour Chamois is exactly the size you want. With good coverage and a comfortable level of thickness I haven't noticed any discomfort during my longer 3 to 4 hour rides (I wish I could say it's good for the longer rides to, but by hour 1 or 2 of the ride the guilt of leaving my wife with 3 kids usually kicks in so inevitably I turn around and head home).

As for the material - AT2 Force Lycra Power fabric - do I need to say more. I mean seriously, it sounds like a wicked cool battle droid from Star Wars and preforms like one as well. It's mechanical and methodical in its performance. It sits nicely on my thighs and doesn't seem to move an inch over the course of a ride. Additionally, the color scheme is essentially all black with very small logo on the right thigh which means these bibs pair nicely with a lot of different jerseys.

Over all I am super pleased with these bib shorts. At 5'9", but with a very keg like build (I weigh in at 180lbs - on a good day) I decided to purchase a large - and I am happy with that . To date I have logged about 1,000 miles in these bib shorts and I couldn't ask for more.

not good bibs...

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit:Runs large

to keep it simple, they do not fit to size, the inner pad is thin, and the leg grippers are stretched out after one ride. I bought these from Back Country in December, but have not had a chance to try them out until now... and guess what no returns after 30 days... my advice stay away from Hincapie shorts and bibs, there are many better products out there.

I actually quite like these. I Can buy them up from you, if we can get in touch somehow.
