The racer's old standby, the PVC rain cape, was a lifesaver, but it was so poorly fitting and poorly ventilated that you'd only pull it out if you feared for your life. With Hincapie's Pacific Rainshell Jacket, you'll almost wish that you could race in the rain more often.
Like the PVC capes of old, this jacket is almost transparent. But unlike those old jackets, the CrystalDry material is lighter, more flexible, and breathes. It's a micro-pierced membrane that allows sweat vapor to escape. The material is waterproof, but owing to the fact that the seams aren't sealed on this jacket, the top isn't waterproof. Not that this detail should be a concern, as those old PVC jackets weren't seam sealed either. There are also MatrixMesh panels underneath the armpits, furthering breathability and long-riding comfort.
Chest zippers are often an entry point for wind and moisture. Hincapie protects your chest with a storm flap of CrystalDry behind the zipper. The zipper is a two-way model, so you can open it from below so the jacket flaps less in the wind. They also make the collar more comfortable by lining it with mesh. To keep the storm out of your jacket, the wrists and waist are gathered with a thin elastic band.
The Hincapie Pacific Rainshell Jacket has reflective Hincapie logos for safety. The color is semi-transparent, and sizes run from X-Small to XX-Large.
