Layering in the shoulder seasons can be tough, but it's a little bit easier when you've got the Hincapie Arenberg Zero Vest in your arsenal. That's because it blocks wind and light precipitation to keep your core temperature from dropping, while still being breathable to fight overheating. Plus, it's packable, so you can stash it in your jersey pocket when the sun comes out and you start sweating. Don't leave this one at home.
Through careful selection of materials, Hincapie is able to deliver a vest that's both protective and comfortable. The designers accomplished this minor miracle though the use of MTX Wind Repel fabric, which, as the name implies, is fully windproof. That means that gusts of wind won't cut through to your core while you're ripping down that long descent. But what the name doesn't suggest is the 4-way stretch properties that keep the vest moving with you, instead of binding or constricting your movements. The back panel is built from Super Roubaix fabric instead, which is a more breathable option, allowing you to shed excess heat, without sacrificing windproof-ness.
As you'd expect, the Arenberg vest employs a slim fit, which keeps it from flapping when you catch a gust of wind. Both the collar and arm cuffs are weather protective to help seal out any precipitation you may run into along the way. There are three standard-issue cycling pockets at the rear, so your necessities will never be far away. And it's finished with HyperOptic Roubaix reflective details to enhance your visibility to motorists in low-light conditions.
The Hincapie Arenberg Zero Vest is available in five sizes from Small to XX-Large and in the color Black.
