Fabric Defect

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

I purchased these in Nov 2014. I live in Texas, so they don't get all that much use. I probably rode in them 30-40x at most. Starting last year the fabric on the left just started disintegrating. (See Photo). I contacted Hincapie Sports, and they said there was no defect, and that I should wash them immediately after every ride because sweat can deteriorate the material. (I always wore them on the same leg, so I assume that Hincapie believes I sweat more on the left leg than the right.). They wouldn't replace them, but did offer a free sample of team detergent, as if that would remedy the problem. I used many different arm and leg warmers over the years, and never had anything like this happen before.

Good quality and stay put

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

These knee warmers are really nice, keep the chill at bay, and stay put. I'm not sure what others are saying about them slipping down -- maybe they got too large a size? But I've had several different knee warmers over the years and these are the best at staying where I've put them. True, the elastic at the thigh popped at the seams, with little elastic tendrils fraying, and only after the first wash. But this knee warmer has silicon around the band at the thigh both on the outer and the inner sides. So it grips your skin and the inside of your short, staying put. The grips at the ankle are solid, too. There's also a bonus highly reflective band at the ankle, which is excellent when you're out after dark. The only thing not giving this a perfect score are the low quality elastic, and the lack of an articulated knee. But overall these are excellent quality and well-designed. All in all, these were well worth the $16!

Not what I expected

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I've used these several times since Nov 14. Each time I used them, I wished I'd gone with my tights instead. They are warm, but I find myself constantly adjusting them. Not for me...

Hincapie Knee Warmer

  • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it
  • Fit:Runs small

Like the longer length and fit, but the reflective band near the bottom of the garment was too tight on my leg

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I bought a pair of these warmers 1 month ago. The elastic in the grippers is unraveling and coming loose on both of them on the insides at the top and bottom. I wore them maybe 12 times and washed them in only cold water and never put them in the dryer.

I like these knee warmers a lot. They have kept me warm at 40 degrees (I haven't tried them in colder conditions). There's not a lot of give/stretch in them, and I found them slipping down a bit and had to hike them up a few times mid-ride.

I am in Women's size 8-10, what size should I choose for this knee warmer? It seems to be made for Men's size.

I am a women's size 2-4 (5'7" and 125 pounds), my thigh at the largest part is 22 inches, and I ordered a SMALL. They fit well, except there's not a lot of give/stretch in them, so I did find them slipping down a bit and had to hike them up a few times mid-ride. I recommend you measure your thigh as instructed and use that to choose. They are definitely toasty!

Best Knee Warmer/Leg Warmer

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

This knee warmer is longer than other knee warmer in the market. That's what makes it unique. Most knee warmers is too short to cover full thigh and calf, and they usually cover only upper calf which result creeping up during riding. This doesn't happen with this knee warmer. This knee warmer combine with longer merino sock gets you full coverage of the leg. No need to buy leg warmer.

Excellent knee warmers

These are what you would expect from George-utilitarian without any unnecessary frills. They are held up nicely by silicone band and further have another silicone band on the outside to prevent your shorts from riding up on your thigh. They are a little longer than others I have used by about 2"-but that's OK-if it's cold enough for warmers it's OK that they go down below mid calf. Materials are excellent and construction is good-every thing you need in a knee warmer is here. What else could you possibly get from those that cost more than twice as much? I highly recommend.

Awesome & kinda unique

Hincapie gear is designed by George Hincapie - a pro rider and legend who rode in the TdF 17 times. It shows.

What I like most about these Hincapie knee warmers (other than the quality) is that they definitely extend a little further down the leg than most knee warmers. These also cover the upper calf muscles as well. Thus, these are a great way to start a cold 45-55* morning (with a light jacket or vest), then when it warms up, shed the knee warmers and stash them in your jersey pocket.

These warmers are made from high-quality "Super Roubaix" fabric (which is made in Italy). These will cover the 40-60* range perfectly. The band toward the bottom is for safety (reflective).

"Arenberg" refers to one of the most famous sections of the Paris-Roubaix bike race (George rode to 7 top-ten finishes there).

Quality of manufacture: The sewing and seams on these knee warmers are perfect. I have found uniformly excellent quality and QC in all the Hincapie gear that I own. Bravo to George Hincapie and his brother Richard (also a rider) who run this company.

Best warmers I've used to date

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times

Very comfortable on the inside. Fit is perfect, and with the grippers on the inside and outside they will not slide down an inch.
