A noble jersey.

If Gore Bike Wear's Xenon 3.0 Men's Jersey was actually an elemental gas, its atomic number would be one, not because it would have a single proton in its nucleus, but because it would be the best noble gas. Forgive the tortured hypothetical — how would you even rate gases, anyway? — but don't ignore the Xenon 3.0's race-ready design, which fits like a second skin to keep the air flowing smoothly over your body and your muscles comfortably supported.

Excellent breathability is an assumed feature in top-shelf jerseys like the Xenon, but Gore took ventilation to the next level by incorporating a series of strategic mesh panels to increase airflow in key areas. The full-length zipper is also semi-locking, so it stays put when you open up for a little extra cooling on a tough climb, and the ergonomic racing collar sits comfortably whether you're fully zipped or flapping wide open. Bonded seams and hems give the Xenon a friction-free, sleek, and streamlined finish.

Gore didn't focus on fit, shape, and material at the cost of functional features. For starters, it includes a three-compartment zippered back pocket for water bottles, energy gels, and a wind layer, and integrated 360-degree reflective details so you don't have risk being run off the road when your ride stretches into the twilight hours.

Comfy & cool, but monster tags.

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I"m old. I'm also fat. I still love riding, but I overheat quickly, so wearing kit that breathes and wicks sweat away quickly is of key importance to me.

So far, I've only used these items on the trainer, as it's a bit too cold outside for summer wear like this jersey, but I'm digging it so far. Only quibble is the rather large tags along one of the side seams; tags aren't tearaway, so if they bug you, you have to very carefully cut the tags or threads holding the tags without cutting the actual seam threads at the same time.
