Gore Bike Wear Universal SO Thermo Helmet Cap $39.95
More than just a cap.
The low-profile Gore Bike Wear Universal SO Thermo Helmet Cap will make your winter rides just a touch more tolerable. Gore Placed its famed WindStopper membrane at the front and over the ears to keep icy winds at bay, and constructed the rest of the cap from a thermal polyester to wick moisture and keep you from overheating.
Because layering for winter riding can cause problems with all of your accessories, Gore thoughtfully provided pass-through slots for your favorite sunnies. The Cap is treated with reflective logos to provide low-light safety.

Recipe for cold ears
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I wanted a cap to keep my ears warm and couldn't decide between this Thermo version and the standard version, so I bought both. The description for the Thermo cap is wrong: the ears are NOT Windstopper. They are simply fleece and allow 90% of the wind to come through. I rode in it anyway, thinking that maybe the Windstopper on the rest of the cap would keep the blood in my head warm which would then flow through my ears. What actually happened is that the Windstopper on the top of the cap prevented the sweat on my head from evaporating, so it pooled up and fell down around my ears. This moisture readily evaporated on my barely protected earlobes. On the plus side, the fleece ear covers don't block any sound, either, so you can easily hear traffic.

Well, more like very warm (but not sweaty). This is a must for cold weather rides; much warmer than the standard Universal cap, which is really more like a 'head band' with a thin top...O.K. for coolish, but not cold rides.
Fits fine under my Specialized S-Works Prevail helmet.
*Love the ear slots for glasses to fit into, without causing gaps for cold winds to get in (there is fabric on the inside of ear slots that further protect from windchill, so that no air is directly passing through!).
Here is a shot of the cozy interior. The thermo version is in front, where the standard version is behind; you can see the difference in thickness.

*I reviewed this, and the regular 'Universal SO Helmet Cap'...on that items' page (because this wasn't pictured on-line at the time).
Anyway, this is absolutely great for cold weather riding. It is a huge step up in warmth and wind protection than the other cap, which is better for milder rides as there is practically no protection on the top of it...where the most heat loss occurs!
Love the slits for slipping your glasses through, eliminating drafts for cold air; so simple yet so smart.
