Shield your toes from winter.

Vented cycling shoes are perfect when its hot out, but when the shoulder season arrives, cool air chills toes. Gore Bike Wear's Road SO Toe Protectors are exactly what you need when full covers are overkill, but you need an added touch of warmth.

Gore constructed its Road SO toe protectors from its Windstopper soft shell fabric. In addition to being windproof, Windstopper is water-resistant. As an added benefit it's also highly breathable. So, if your feet start getting hot, excess heat will be expelled. This helps to keep your feet dry. Dry feet are warm feet, and we've found that it's nice to be able to feel your toes throughout the entirety of a ride.

To ensure a close fit around the toe box of your shoes, Gore used stretch elastane inserts. This ensures that wind is blocked at the forward most point of the foot, and it also makes these covers easy to slip-on to your shoes. And for enhanced visibility to motorists in low-light conditions, Gore also added reflective logos.

The Gore Road SO Toe Protectors are available in the color Black and in sizes 4.5-8.0 and 9.0-13.0. Please note that these protectors are only compatible with a three-hole cleat configurations, as a lugged sole interferes with their fit.

Warm, but seam ripped

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

These covers look great and do a very good job of keeping the cold out. But the seam ripped in the first week. I'm a fan of the brand, but these need to be built stronger.

Unanswered Question

Since they work with 3 and 4-hole cleat, I'm assuming they would also work with a 2-hole mountain biking shoe?

Would these toe covers also stretch to fit around a 4-hole speedplay cleat?

Yes! I have Sidis with the Speedplay adapter and they work well.
