A different chamois than most

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I ordered these in small and the front bunched up a lot in front, so ordered an XS. They bunch up somewhat, but I'm keeping them. I'm 5'4", 120 lbs--small hips, muscular legs. The shorts don't hurt while riding, although I've not ridden more than 30 miles in them, but my bottom "feels" them after I take them off. I don't know, but maybe that's what people mean when they say there's too much padding.

Too much padding is felt more on your 'front parts', as you're leaning and pressure is more evident, causing numbness and even pain on long rides. Also, some bike clothes/brands overdo the amount of padding in areas not really needed...or not as much is needed: i.e....way beyond the sit bones...that's where you'll hear complaints about the chamois 'feeling like a diaper'...just to wide, and sometime too thick, as well.

And of course, it's all about personal preference...but while I like Gore, they're chamois are sometimes a bit large, and I think they need to re-think the contour of them, too.

If you can, try Giordana next time. Entry level is the Silverline. Then the Lasers, finally, the FormaRed Carbon line (actually there's a Evo line, but that truly race inspired). The chamois is smaller, the contour is perfect, as is the material and fit.

Hope this may help a little for your next purchase!

good all around

I prefer to have my knees covered while on my bike, so I like the below the knee length of these tights (I would like them even a bit longer) I can wear these spring, summer, & fall in Pacific Northwest. Very comfortable to ride in. Chamois is soft and flexible, not too bulky. Have to squiggle around a bit on my saddle to get it in the perfect place, but then it is (perfect!) The waist on these is a bit high, so rolled it down at first, but then traded down a size. Currently wearing size small (at 5'5", 117lbs).
Customer service at Real cyclist is the best!

    Hi!

If you haven't already tried the Silverline knickers (Giordana), I think you may like them. They hit below the knee, but don't squeeze calves. They do stay in place; and you can even tweak them a bit lower, or even a bit higher (above the knee, if you'd want) with no problems. Fabric is very soft and breathes pretty well, no scratchy seams, waist if perfect, chamois is comfy. And...they're pretty sharp!
