The Gore Bike Wear Fusion Trail Shorts look good covered in dirt. The casual styling and full set of pockets keep things relaxed, while a protective WindStopper membrane makes cool breezes a non-issue. Basically, you'll be set for your next ride, no matter where it takes you.

For the construction of the Fusion Trail shorts, Gore chose a proprietary blend of nylon and elastane for its breathability. By pulling sweat from the skin to the surface of the fabric, the Fusion Trail shorts take advantage of evaporative cooling in order keep you dry and comfortable. But, you may be wondering 'Hey, what is evaporative cooling anyway?' Basically, as your sweat evaporates, it causes the temperature of the surrounding air to drop, which keeps your shorts and your skin nice and cool. And to boost the comfort level even further, WindStopper panels are placed selectively throughout the shorts to block wind and to deflect wheel-spray.

The Fusion Trail shorts use elastic in the waistband in order to eliminate fabric bunching. As a result, these shorts move freely with you throughout the movements of mountain biking. And to further this concept, Gore employed flatlock stitching throughout the shorts' construction.

In terms of fit, you'll find that the Fusion Trail shorts feature a fairly relaxed cut in order to maintain a natural range of motion. Overall, though, you'll find them to be rather similar to Gore's higher-end Alp-X shorts, only the Fusion Trail shorts don't include a removable liner. However, these shorts do incorporate mesh vents on the side of the legs that allow you to dump excess heat. But, for the sake of comparison, the Fusion's vents are fixed, as opposed to the zippered vents of the Alp-X. Additionally, Gore included reflective accents on the sides to increase your visibility to motorists in low-light situations. After all, we all have to ride home sometime.

The Fusion Trail Shorts are available in five sizes from Small to XX-Large and in the colors Vibrant Orange/black, Earth/black, and Black.

Let's start off with establishing that I'm not a fan of baggies. Let's follow that up with these shorts were awesome. It was a chilly and windy day , one where I was on the fence with wearing knee warmers, but also worried about getting sweaty depending on which side of the mountain I was on.

On the tail wind sunny side, they vented well and didn't make the zip-zip-zip-zip-zip noise while pedaling. Once on the top and back in the cold wind that creeps into your eyes, nose, brain, and through every seam on every item of clothing you own...the shorts were a life saver.

They fit true to size, if maybe a tiny bit small...which was well received. No bulk, no flapping, just protection from the elements, but with a looking-cool-but-function-first approach. I plan to wear them with leg wamers once things get cooler.

I guess I'm more of a trail shorts person than baggies rider.

Warm, not annoying, wear & forget.
