It's not tool time anymore.

Do you like to hit the trails in all weather? Are you keen to ride mountain roads as soon as they're cleared of snow? If so, the Gore Fusion GT AS Jacket will become one of your favorite pieces of gear. Made with the Gore-Tex Active Shell, the Fusion GT AS Jacket is lightweight, breathable, and surprisingly easy to pack if the weather brightens up.

The expert use of the Gore-Tex active shell is instrumental in giving the Fusion Jacket a breathable, stretchy, and comfy fit. The material keeps the wetness out and the warmth in while still allowing your perspiration to be released. Let’s face it, that is the holy grail of winter cycling clothing, and no material makes it happen quite as well as Gore-Tex. Gore also places stretch inserts strategically throughout the jacket to account for the natural range of motion while cycling. You'll find them around the elbows, shoulders, and back since these are the areas that are in continual motion. By using different types of Gore-Tex fabrics in one garment, Gore is able to layout a comfort map. Consequently they call this Comfort Mapping Technology. For optimal storage capacity, they also give the jacket a Napoleon pocket in your front left breast so that you can safely and conveniently store your most valuable items like your keys and credit cards.

But make no mistake: this is a jacket for seriously unpleasant weather. It's waterproof and breathable, and it has a stowaway hood hidden in the collar so that you can whip it out if the weather takes a dramatic turn for the worse. Since it's typically the weakest link in a jacket’s consorted battle against the elements, the zipper gets an under-flap and zip-port so that even a raging wind will not penetrate through to your base layers. You can also tighten or loosen the cuff to accommodate bulkier gloves if need be, or to close out the cold and wet from sneaking up your wrist. A hem-width draw cord has been included which is easy to adjust and may prove to be your savior on those rides with heavy wind and rain; you can tighten the cord to keep out the elements during the worst moments, and then undo it to give your torso a chance to breathe a little more once the sun comes out again. The elbows have been ergonomically shaped so that you won’t feel like they tug at your cuffs.

The Gore Fusion GT AS Jacket will protect you on or off the trails with its expert pairing of comfy breathability and lightweight warmth. It's available in Black and comes in sizes Small through XX-Large. The reflective print on the sleeves and at the front and back of the jacket will keep you visible even if the evening darkness catches up to you faster than you expected.

  • Gore-Tex Active Shell provides breathability with durable waterproof and windproof protection for optimum comfort
  • Streamlined, three layer construction ensures an ultra lightweight weather-resistant cycling garment
  • Cycling-specific cut provides on-the-bike protection from moisture invasion and road spray
  • Next to skin fit works great with a base layer to keep your core warm and dry
  • Reflective elements for low-light safety

Gore is more...

LOVE this jacket. I'm 5'11 155lbs and bought the medium. It fits perfect. It's a nice, clean thin fit jacket which is perfect for the wet, blustery, Flanders inspired training days - without making you feel like a parachute into the wind. Nice deep pocket up front for iPod, phone, condoms, etc.

I'm 6'1 210 lbs and wondering if i should order a xxl? i usually wear an xl in everything but it says a slim fit. I have the Gore Phantom SO Jacket in xl which is a slim fit and it fits perfect.

Responded on

This fits very similarly to the Phantom, but keep in mind it is not as stretchy as the Phantom.

So, if you're ok with a tighter fit and don't need 2 - 3 layers underneath, go with the XL. If you think you'll be layering a lot more, go XXL.

For what it's worth, Gore-Tex Active Shell works very well if it is fit close to the skin, so XL will probably give you superior breathability and next-to-skin comfort.

Hope that helps,
Robert, Gore Bike Wear

Really nice but too expensive

This is an EXCELLENT jacket.

It looks amazing, the reflective accents are very bright and well placed, the zippers are of highest water tight quality, it's sewn together with the utmost care and precision.....

However, it's still just a rain jacket...and for that I feel that it's far too expensive.

The reason I would only qualify this as a rain jacket is because it's literally paper thin. I wore this in 59 degree weather and wished that I had a jacket on top of it which would just be silly. If only it had a thin cloth or fleece lining i would love this thing but unfortunately you can't seem to get a GBW jacket with a fleece lining AND gore-tex shell. you have to choose one or the other.

The fitment was just right at a medium. I'm 5'8" @ 165lbs. Nice and sleek fit.

pro's: 100% water proof, looks amazing, hide-away hood, great fit
cons: too expensive for just a rain jacket

I raced the Trans-Wales Challenge Stage Race in the Fusion GT AS Jacket. Nothing like Welsh weather to show you the value of Gore-Tex. Not only was I comfortable all day, but after 50 miles in the muck and rain, look how clean and dry my kit stayed underneath the Fusion GT AS Jacket and Alp-X GT Shorts!

Fall Jacket

Just got this jacket in the Red Color. My Gore-Tex Paclite rainshell was always my go to riding jacket in the fall, but I never was comfortable in it. It was always too hot and clammy.
Tuesday I rode up at Deer Valley, weather required a long sleeve freerideish jersey, which was perfect for the climb up, but once we pointed it down TG1, it as time for another layer. This jacket was a great wind layer, and really worked to keep my temperature regulated. I never felt anything close to the clammy feeling of my pac-lite. So far, I am sold. I think I am going to need to use it once or twice more to really get a solid idea, but as of now, this thing is sick.
