Description

Don't let the weather dictate your comfort level.

It's no secret that multipurpose riding pants have been done before, but not like the new Gore Bike Wear Fusion 2.0 SO Pants. These durable pants not only feature some of Gore's most advanced fabric technology, but they're also exceptionally versatile. Now, you're able to keep your legs fully protected when the weather turns on you, and transition the pants into shorts for milder riding conditions and casual wear.

Similar to other protective outerwear layers in Gore's Fusion line, the Fusion 2.0 SO Pants were constructed using WindStopper Soft Shell fabric. This is essentially a fleece-lined, membrane-backed stretchy material that moves with you while riding. The characteristics of this fabric are ideal for exercising in cool and cold weather, as Soft Shell provides a light, flexible layer of insulation. Yet it also blocks the wind and rain with its inner-membrane. WindStopper provides the comfort of a mid-layer and the water-resistance of a shell in one. Additionally, this material's composition also breathes incredibly well, which allows moisture to escape from within, rather than collecting inside and chilling your body like some other membrane layers. This means that your body remains warm, dry, and comfortable during all of your rides.

Panels of abrasion-resistant material were added to the inner-thighs, as Gore knows this area is prone to friction while pedaling. The bottoms of the legs feature side zippers and hook-and-loop closures, which allow you to adjust the cuffs and keep them from interfering with your chain.

And when the weather warms up a touch, the Fusion 2.0 SO pants are easily converted into shorts — made possible via zippers above the knees. This versatility makes the Fusion pants really two lower body layers in one, taking the guesswork out of dressing for those weather-shifting days late in the season.

The Fusions were finished off with two front zip pockets and a single zippered pocket on the back. A zippered thigh pocket was also added, which includes a small cloth for cleaning your eyewear. The high-cut back with adjustable waistband ensures coverage while in the cycling position.

The Gore Bike Wear Fusion 2.0 SO Pants are available in the color Black and in five sizes from Small to XX-Large.

Excellent Pants/Great Value

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share

As 'advertised', totally windproof, warm, comfortable (rode in 40F with 30 mph wind with no problems at all.

Room for movement/layering. Great pockets. Nice reflective elements. Good-looking, too!

Plus, what a value when you consider this pant will take you from freezing to the heat of summer in just a matter of a zip!

Says it's totally windproof, and warm, as advertised. Also enough room to add a merino wool base when temps drop to freezing.

Plus that added 'value' of becoming shorts for warmer weather (if it ever gets here in the Great Lakes Region!).

Velcro keeps elements out, and pants leg out of the chain's way.

great versatility

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are terrific, they can be used over a base layer to keep you toasty at surprisingly low temps (wore them down into the teens without any discomfit) and still can function in warm weather through conversion into shorts. If my size were still available I would gladly buy a second pair.
