Description

Dial in your cool weather kit.

One reason that it’s more difficult to get out and ride during the winter months is that it’s more difficult for your body to maintain an ideal temperature. This increases fatigue and makes riding more strenuous. The Gore bike Wear Functional thermo Base Layer helps your body maintain that temperature more efficiently to make the miles slide by more easily.

The key performance function of the Thermo Base Layer is moisture management. Your body has a much more difficult time regulating its temperature when your skin is wet. The Thermo Base Layer fits like a second skin to increase moisture-management efficiency. The combination of an internal hydrophobic fabric (100% polyester)with an external hydrophilic fabric (100% polyester) pulls moisture away from your body to keep your skin dry and aid in temperature regulation.

Gore designed the Thermo Base Layer with as few seams as possible, since they cause irritation. Where seams were necessary it used flatlock seams, which cause less chafing than the traditional variety. Finally, Gore designed the WS Thermo with an extra long back to give you full coverage in the seated position.

The Gore Bike Wear Functional Thermo Base Layer comes in White or Black. It’s available in sizes Small to XX-Large.

  • Extra-long back won't expose your backside when you're hunched deep in the drops

Decent base layer

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought this Gore base layer specifically because I think the black version looks cool. I have worn this underneath my Assos Uno top when the temperatures started slightly dropping in the early fall and I have also worn it underneath my Assos Tiburu jacket for some extra warmth in slightly-colder intermediate conditions.

I ordered this Gore top in size small as well, hoping it would be nice and tight like my Assos garments. It is very tight. My only concern is the overall quality of the materials and stitching on this top. It appears to be fairly well-made, but the stitching could be better, especially around the cuffs, where a few threads have come loose. This top is very tight, while not being quiiiite elastic enough to facilitate with removal after your ride is finished. Sometimes when I put it on or take it off, I will feel a tiny thread snap somewhere. So, I try to be gentle with it... and so far, so good.

I have this in the Lady's version. They don't really stretch, and run rather 'smallish'; I wonder if the next size up would fit you better in this line. I agree, Gore could do with some quality control in the manufacture of their products, but overall, their products are very effective...and in some cases, superior to most others (GoreTex, and Windstopper).
Maybe next time, try a size up, see if it fits better....

I had a problem with the tight stitching in the cuff of a Gore LS jersey. I could hear threads breaking & then the seam popped. But it wasn't unravelling & jersey was plenty usable. When spring came, I called Gore & sent it in on their suggestion with little hope. To my surprise, not only did they quickly warranty it, but they gave me a substantial upgrade for free!!! Went from a "power" jersey to the
