Description

Cool-weather kit.

Our favorite long sleeve jerseys are the ones that are almost so warm as to be a jacket. This is where the Gore Bike Wear Alp-X Thermo jersey fits in the clothing closet. It's tough on the outside, plush on the inside, has a little heft to it, but still breathes pretty well. To us, this is the core kind of jersey for cool weather, good to the low 40s with a thermal base layer underneath and a vest in the back pocket.

The Alp-X uses a brushed fleece that traps air and wicks great. The material is stretchy, so not only can you fit multiple layers underneath if you so wish, but it will move well with you when you ride. The fit is Gore's Slim Fit shape -- ok for standing around, but great for aggressive riding. In order to make the fit work, Gore is generous with the panels -- shoulder panels, multiple arm panels, and side panels as well. The collar runs high, kind of like a mock turtleneck, which is great for keeping your neck warm and sealing your torso from the elements.

The Alp-X has a textured silicone print design on both shoulders, which is to withstand not only shouldering the bike but ever-shifting hydration packs. It features a full-zip with a front Napoleon pocket for keys, id, and communication devices. A storm flap under the zipper ensures you won't experience rubbing/chafing/catching of skin or jersey under the jacket. And there's a zipper dock at the top, so it won't chafe your neck when fully zipped. The back pocket design is unique to Gore -- two back pockets and a slim center pocket. Each back pocket has a zip side pocket built into it, while the slim center pocket is great for securing a mini-pump. Three colors are available -- Black, Golden Green/Black, and White/Black. Sizes for the Gore Bike Wear Alp-X Thermo jersey run from Small to XXL.

  • Soft fabric retains heat and wicks sweat so you don’t get chilled
  • Mesh inserts at underarms for pit ventilation
  • Slim fit reduces bulk and enhances aerodynamics
  • High collar adds neck warmth
  • Plethora of pockets hold energy gel and even a small air pump
