Description

Stop wind dead.

Stuff the Gore Bike Wear Women's Alp-X AS Light Jacket in your pack and you'll be ready for nasty weather whenever it pops up. The WindStopper Alp-X is completely windproof and breathable, and it packs into its own stow pocket for convenient carry.

Gore Bike Wear's Alp-X AS Light Jacket is made from Gore's patented WindStopper fabric. This material adheres to Gore's rigorous standards of lightweight, windproof construction. The multilayer fabric design allows high breathability and well regulated moisture transfer away from the skin to the outer layer of the jacket. And, although the Alp-X is made for mountainous touring, you're going to have to ride home at some point, which is why Gore included reflective piping on the sleeves and back, and a reflective logo on the front, back, and collar of the jacket. A full-length zipper underflap eliminates wind sneaking through the zipper, and a zip-port mitigates irritation.

The Alp-X AS Light Jacket has pre-shaped elbows and an ergonomically shaped collar for a natural feel. Gore Bike Wear even gave the Alp-X abrasion-resistant prints on the shoulders to resist abrasion from backpacks. The Gore Bike Wear Alp-X AS Light Jacket is available in sizes X-Small through XX-Large, and in the colors Black/White, Rich Red/White, and Waterfall Blue/White.

Colorado Tested

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Started out the ride with 45degree temps with only a ss jersey and this jacket. The temps got up to 60, and I was still comfortable and not holding any sweat under the jacket. I am 5'4" and 140# so I ordered an xl. The jacket is big enough for 2 layers, and yet did not flap in the wind with only one layer. A cold compression shirt and this jacket will be perfect for sub 40 temps, although not tested yet. The only drawback is one tiny pocket on the right rear of the jacket.
Gotta love Gore for breath ability and ruggedness.
