The Gore Bike Wear Alp-X 2.0 Long Glove protects your hand from cold weather at the same time that it's protecting it from shock, vibration, and impact. This is great news for those of you who don't plan to put the bike away this year. Sure, it's a little more painful to ride in the winter, but you'll have the trails all to yourself.

Gore started with a stretchy blend of nylon and elastane that can handle huge amounts of abuse and won't limit your range of motion. This breathable outer fabric allows water vapor to escape so your hand stays dry and comfortable, even during intense climbs. The palm is durable nylon and polyurethane that provides excellent grip so you won't slip off the bars or lose touch with your brake levers at a crucial moment. Gore even supplied a cotton/poly sweat wipe so you could stem the sweat attack before it gets to your glasses.

With the weather taken care of, Gore turned its attention to fatigue-inducing vibration and the inevitable unplanned impact. Along the heel of the palm is a low-profile gel pad to add comfort without negatively affecting grip. The rest of the palm is padded with a low-profile foam padding that reduces fatigue without affecting the Long Glove's phenomenal level of dexterity.

Adding to that dexterity are silicone gripers on the index and forefingers. A soft wipe is placed along the thumb panel to keep things tidy as you push through inclement weather. The elastic wrist cuff is nice and wide to lock out the elements without cutting off circulation, and it's adjustable via a hook-and-loop closure.

The Gore Bike Wear ALP-X SO Glove has reflective logos for added low-light safety. It's available in sizes Small through XXX-Large and in Black, Red/black, and White/black.

Not really cold weather gloves...

  • Fit:Runs small

I am a roadie looking for some fall (i.e. early morning frosty followed by mid-day warm up) gloves that I could use for riding metric and full centuries before freezing temps set in for good. I ordered both these gloves and the "Pearl Izumi Thermal Conducter" gloves to see which ones would better fit my needs. I wound up keeping the IP's and returning the Gore gloves before ever taking them out for a test ride. Firstly, the Gore gloves seem fine, except they do not have much insulation to speak of to meet my definition of "cold weather," which are temps ranging from the low 50s to mid 30s F (and definitely above freezing). I also found the sizing to be a bit on the small size: their Large is smaller and tighter than the other PI gloves that I bought. However, if your definition of "cold weather" is the low 60s to mid 50s, then these gloves might work just fine for you.

Nice glove

  • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it

I'm a roadie and I was looking for a warm, full fingered glove for 50 degree days. These are a little thin for that temp but they are very well made and would be great for days where you want a little bit more than the short finger gloves. Gore makes nice stuff and these are no exception. Big ups to CC for letting me return them for a warmer glove!

GREAT Gloves!

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

Great gloves for those early autumn, spring nights or moderate dry days when you're on the single track and need the protection of full glove. They're not weather resistant but will keep your hands warm down to about 16 degrees C or 60F. I've been using these for a season and now and they are holding up really well. Quality gloves, not bulky, pleasure to wear.
