Here's what others have to say...

Only Option

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought it because I had broken all my J-Mounts and I didn't need the whole grab-bag. The extension will come in handy.

Beats the standard helmet mount

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

This is a nice upgrade from the standard helmet mount (flat/curved surface mount) that comes with most GoPro packages. I used this on my ski helmet (Giro Seam) and it gives you a good bit of flexibility to get the angle, height, and front/back location of the camera just right on your helmet. This would be especially helpful if you have a helmet with a lot of vents in the front that you need to work around.

So far no complaints on the durability. This mount held up just fine over a trip to Alaska and a couple other trips last season, including a pretty nasty headfirst wreck I had in flat light conditions. My helmet (and the GoPro mount) took the brunt of the impact and everything survived.

Mix it up!

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

Yet another great mounting option from GoPro. This mount is sturdy and can take a beating. My only knock is more about the curved/flat mounts that couple with this for Smith Helmet integration. None of the mounts fit the curves of the medium helmets very well and as a result some modification is necessary. This is relevant to the front mount because this is where the curve is the most severely different. People will say you look pretty narcissistic...until they see your footage.

I use this on my GoScope!

Check out and get your own extendable pole to get awesome shots like most of this video!

A little fragile

This is a useful mount for on your helmet, on a raft, and just about anything else! Be careful though! I've broken 2 of these so far!

    Another useful mount

I bought this on a whim as I was looking for a good mount to stick my gopro to my helmet for some canyoneering. After trying it out, I would say go for something smaller if you're going to be using it in close quarters. I beaned it on probably every wall and fallen log in Keyhole.

Other than that, it worked great. I was hoping when I got it that it would have a pivot so that You could twist it side by side. Not sure yet if Gopro makes a mount like that yet. I'm giving it 5 stars because it's not Gopro's fault that I didn't look at the picture long enough before I made the purchase.

and this attaches to the sticky backed flat goody that you stick to your helmet???

      Responded on

Yep... My good friend uses this mount for the very front of his helmet... All the footage he has gotten is awesome, and you don't have the go pro on top of your head.... It works great right on the front.

Isn't this just a combination of some of the other extensions already offered? Or am I missing something?

      Responded on

If you notice these extensions don't rotate 90 degrees each time, but thats about it, I've made my own front facing with a combination of arms and the tall curved mount shown here.

      Responded on

I tried to do this with normal L-mounts. I would just throw down and get this.
