GoPro Anti-Fog Inserts $14.99
Wet and humid conditions have always challenged photographers and videographers. The GoPro HD Hero Camera is no exception. And though it's safe inside its own waterproof housing, there will always be air trapped inside with the camera. If that air is moisture laden, a drop in temperature may cause fogging of the lens inside the housing. That's why the designers at GoPro left a bit of space on either side of the camera to allow for the placement of these Anti-Fog inserts. We don't know exactly what they're made of, but we assume they act like silica gel dessicant and literally suck the moisture from the air inside the housing. They can be re-used up to 5 times by baking them in the oven for a few minutes to drive out any accumulated moisture.
What community has to say
Moisture and Monkey proof
When I travelled to Asia I was sure to pack these with my GoPros- the humidity ruins your pics and videos quick! Here I was in Indonesia and you can see the inserts hard at work!
Once you have it, you'll wonder how you functioned without it. Great accessory to have in your winter filming adventures.
It's worth the money
If you plan on using your GoPro skiing, these are great, it is only $15 and it is protecting your footage from being ruined because your lens fogged.
No more fog
Put these in and haven't had a fog problem since!
Great for all year around!
Going from cold water to warm air can couse moisture to build up on your camera housing and fog up. These inserts are a lifesaver!
Nescesarry on Powder days!
These keep your lens from fogging up so you don't have hazy powder day memories!
Works as far as I can tell
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
No foggy shots yet works great
- Gender: Male
Used these on some surfing shoots and the worked out great. So far so good
I use these all the time while snowboarding, canyoneering, and rafting! If you are around hot and cold at the same time or if you open the back door and get a tiny droplet of water in the case then the lens will fog up and your video won't look very good. These are worth having if you don't want a foggy lens.
Foggy Lens Sucks
Most of the time you won't need this, but if you are in the mountains in the winter and you need to change your battery or SD card, or for some other reason you need to open the case, your lens might start to fog when you close it. That is where these little guys can save the day! Don't let a little moisture ruin your shot!
Useful when weather is humid
The anti-fog are necessary when the weather gets humid. I have used them and did notice a difference while riding/recording. The inserts are reusable and can be dried using an oven or similar heat source.
