Xara will stand up for you.

More than enough for casual riding, the Giro Xara helmet is ready to hit the trail and protect you while it's at it. Made with Giro's In-Mold technology, it's one of the lightest, but strongest, out there.

The In-Mold construction process fuses the outer shell to an EPS foam liner. This process enhances the effectiveness of both parts. In fact, the fusion process actually reinforces those formerly vulnerable spots around the vents and ribs. It makes them lighter, more durable, and better ventilated than helmets with shells that are glued to the liner. This process safely creates 17 Wind Tunnel vents with internal channeling.

The Xara also gets the benefit of a P.O.V. visor to deflect the sun, rain, and twigs. The visor has a patented internal clutch system that allows for 15 degrees of vertical adjustment without the need for any tools; just give it a quick whack with your hand. And, if you'd rather not have it on at all, you can easily remove it without tools.

Giro's development of the Roc Loc 5 Fit System makes it possible to micro-adjust your helmet on the fly, with just one hand. Though other helmet manufacturers have similar adjustability options, none of them even come close to the weight savings that the Roc Loc system offers: it is almost 40% lighter than comparable systems. But, that's only one benefit of Roc Loc — it's also adjustable vertically as well as horizontally for an excellent fit.

I love this helmet!

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This helmet has been good to me over the last several hundred miles I have put on my bike. Granted I haven't had any other helmets to compare it to, i've had it on my head for a lot of ride hours and there are a lot of things that I like about it. To begin with It has held up well through a lot of conditions (including getting rained on and washed with a hose) and even though I have a white colored helmet, it doesn't appear to have absorbed a lot of dirt and grime. It's lightweight and doesn't feel bulky like other helmets I have tried on. It breathes well and doesn't get too hot. And, the visor is great for deflecting foliage and sun.

What I can't comment on is it's ability to react/protect in a crash situation. While I have gone down my fair share of times, fortunately, it hasn't been on my head yet.

I love this helmet!
