Item # GIR003B

A kids helmet without the garish goofiness.

Turn back the clock ten years and consider children's helmets -- blocky polystyrene, tape-held plastic shells, with one option; colorful and cartoonish graphics. To make things worse, thick foam pads adjusted the fit. Giro's separated its Kids Raze Helmet as far as possible from those sorry, sweaty buckets.

Just like an adult helmet, the Raze shares the sized-down features found in Giro's line of performance and value oriented helmets. This includes the Acu Dial fitting system, an in-mold polycarbonate shell with EPS liner, and a generous 22 vents. Like Giro's larger helmets, the Raze's Acu Dial combines wraparound comfort and secure holding with a simple, rear-located dial.

One handed, you or the little one can adjust the dial for a snug and safe fit -- minus the grossness of thick, absorbent foam. Adding to the reduction of perspiration, numerous vents, only possible through the use of Giro's in-mold technology, ensure there's plenty of cooling air flow. In-mold construction bonds the shell to the EPS liner, rather than tape.

This allows the shell to become structural, and means less material and more vents for a lightweight, durable helmet that can handle the carelessness of kids. The Giro Raze comes with a removable visor and three color options; Red/Rhodamine Descend, Matte Blue, and Black/Charcoal.

We've tried other helmets...

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Got our kids in to these helmets recently and we should have done it sooner. This helmet is a universal child size helmet with a dial system. No need for specific sizes, if your child fits the size range then you can adjust the dial to an exact fit. Kids love it and say it is comfortable unlike their older helmets that were heavy and slipped all over the place.

She will grow into it

I bought this for my 2 year old daughter. I think I was a little overly optimistic about the fit. It is just a little too big for here. We are going to keep it around and pull it out in another 6 months or so. It is a fantastic helmet and an significant step up from the interim box store helmet we have her in now. As fast as these kids grow, It won't be long be for she will be wearing it, and with as much adjustability as it has, it will be around a long time.

    Cool color, good fit

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Bought for my 9 year old son. He loves the vivid color. I love that it is adjustable so it fits him perfectly, can grow with him, and keeps him safe. Fits our 11 year old too, so we see it as a good investment.

    Fun and functional

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I got this lid for my 7 year old daughter. She loves the bright color and it fits well, A good fit means she'll wear it. Great bucket at not much more than a big box store helmet.

    Stylish Kids Helmet

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My 7 year old loves this helmet. It has a great fit (adjustable) and looks clean and stylish. He loves that it has "lots of holes" (re: vents) and looks like adult helmets

    Great helmet, daughters love it

Is your kid tired of that big box store helmet slipping & sliding all over their head? Get on the Giro bandwagon asap -they make great helmets. Their AccuDial System is second to none and guarantees a nice fit everytime. My 12 & 10 years old daughters love the plain white styling :)

      good alternative for smaller kids

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought 2 of these for kids age 6 and 8, both fit quite well with a little adjustment. better looking and better protection than the department store helmets. If your kids have any bike fashion awareness at all this is the way to go.

      Small Heads

This is a cute helmet, its stylish my only issue is that its meant for small heads. I have a medium/large head and even with the adjustment set to the largest setting it still is too small and tight on my head.

Even though time has been kind to you and you don't look near your age this truly is a kids helmet. That being said, people with a smaller head circumference might fit this helmet and would find it is a great value. Great review!
