Comfort, support, and speed.

Providing a foot-conforming fit with effortless efficiency for fast transfers when you're racing, the Giro Mele Men's Triathlon Shoes deliver comfort, support, and all-out speed. These tri-specific shoes feature a microfiber upper that wraps your feet precisely for maximum support and comfort. Generous use of Air-mesh ventilates when you're racing and training under the hot summer sun. Two hook-and-loop straps provide a secure, ultra-snug fit without wasting precious time, thanks to their biaxial design. In fact, you can dial-in the fit of the forefoot strap before your race, leaving just one upper strap to adjust for speedy transitions.

The shoe's Aegis antimicrobial footbed combats built-up odor, while its adjustable arch cradles your foot in customizable support. Maximizing efficiency where the pedal meets the shoe, the Easton EC70 carbon composite sole features a lowered 6.5mm stack height for powerful response without the sole inhibiting energy transfer. Moreover, you'll find a scuff guard at the heel, as well as an easy-pull heel tab for even faster transitions when you're moving from swim to bike stages.

Suitable for foot binding

We ordered a full size bigger for my wife since these run small, but these shoes are still 2-3 sizes too small. The size chart on these shoes is a joke.

Flashy

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought these shoes cause they match my tri bike (obsidian & highlight) and because of the price and I was looking to upgrade my shoes. I had been riding in LG Tri Speed shoes, which I have loved, except for the color (white). To compare them to the LG they are a lot lighter, but not as wide as the LG's. I wear an 11-1/2 running shoe and I ended up getting the 46 because of the narrow toe box. I have ridden a few times and I cannot complain, as soon as it warms up I'll try them without socks, which will be the ultimate test.

are these spd compatible? (indoor spin)

Responded on

I don't believe so. You're looking for mountain bike style shoes. Those will allow you to attach the 2-bolt style SPD cleat.

Great shoe, great fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bought them for both tri and road bike use. Were slightly tight out of the box but after 50 miles or so they adjusted to my foot shape and have maintained that since. Great in climbs and rolling hills and have good breathability. Amazing price for such a great shoe, get a pair before they are all gone!

Cheap-looking, klunky-looking shoe

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

These fit well but looked and felt cheap and plastic-y, with an ugly rounded toe box, an unappealing white "patent leather"-style upper and an EC70 sole that looked more like polycarbonate or composite than like carbon. The toe and heel counters (or whatever those little pads on the sole are called) were thin and apparently vinyl, not rubber, and would've been slippery: not at all what you need in a road or triathlon shoe.

Responded on

Good thing your tri results aren't based on looks then. These shoes are great and do exactly what they are suppose to, light and sturdy, breathable and easy to transition into and out of....sounds like a solid tri shoe to me.

Great shoe, great price.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

This is truly a great shoe. I ride 100-200 miles a week. I wouldn't expect anything less from Giro. I had a pair of Bont Sub 8s, but I like these Giros much better. The shoes offers a larger toe box, nicer insoles (which come with 3 different inserts) and look to be very well constructed. They are fast to get on in transition, and are great with or without socks. I wear them for both, long course and short course triathlon, along with all of the group rides and road training I do. I would recommend these to anyone to try.
