Great deal

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: small

I am surprised the white with California Bear is a discounted color. The bear and graphics are hardly noticeable, great deal for light,
well vented dome protection with good adjustability. Size fits accurate to measurements in the small I got for the lady.

Thanks for protecting my dome! Great light weight helmet and the RocLoc adjustment system keeps the helmet on my head when I sometimes forget to buckle up.

New helmet

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I got this helmet for my older son to replace a broken one. He loves it - the fit, the visor and the map/bear on the back. He really liked his old helmet and hated to get a new one but has been very happy with this one.

Helmet Upgrade!

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

For years my good friend used a ski helmet (sans liner) as a mountain bike helmet in the summer. I just couldn't have them sweating up a storm like a goober any longer under my watch. Thankfully I give great birthday gifts, like this helmet! My frequent riding buddy is now styling and stoked! This helmet is very light, vents well, and the adjustable fit makes sizing a breeze!

Great Helmet

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I really like this helmet, tons of air flow and looks pretty cool. The Roc Loc 5 system is really solid and hugs my head perfectly. With a couple clicks the helmet is perfectly snug and won't fall off of my head even if the straps aren't on (although obviously you should use the straps).

Love it!

Had this helmet for 2+ years (an older color but same one) and I absolutely love it. Super comfortable, cooling, stays in place, no issues, cool colors. I'm cooler wearing it than not! And it's a really reasonable price compared to other helmets.

    Can fit a big noggin'!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I went with an XL because my hat size is 7 7/8. I happy to say that I actually had to tighten it a little to get a proper fit. The only issue I have is how the velcro is adhered to the helmet - it could be stronger, but as long as you're careful removing it, you won't have any issues.

    Almost perfect...

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This helmet is awesome. It fits great, is very light, offers excellent airflow, and is well padded.

The ONLY concern is the split in the pads in front. I sweat a lot, riding here in AZ, and it runs into my eyebrows. I don't love that about it but everything else is stellar.

Great helmet, very comfortable, good air

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Rode with this helmet a few times now, very comfortable, keeps your head safe and cool and looks decent

    Great helmet for the price.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Love the fit and finish of Giro helmets and this one is no different. Well made and comfortable. Pretty bright though, so beware of the green if you're going for stealth. On the flip side your easier to see on evening rides!

    Good helmet

This is a good all-around mountain bike helmet that has plenty of vents and a good fit. The rear RocLoc 5 adjustment works well to ensure proper fitting of the lid, but there are indeed better half shells out there - just not at this awesome price.

Giro Hex - Best I've owned

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've ridden with the Hex about 20 hours, and I'm still impressed with the amount of air this thing pulls in. Just above walking speed I can feel my head cooling. Easily the best cooling of any helmet I've used in the past. The fit is also impressive - I have a very large head, most helmets and hats simply won't fit, or are uncomfortably tight. The Hex feels great, even at the end of a ride. Easy size adjustment with a simple twist of the knob.

I can't think of a single negative! Buy one!

      Very comfy.

Especially the chin straps. It's nice to have a set of chin straps that aren't so heavy. The helmet itself is light and well ventilated. The support cinch on the back doesn't get in the way (even if you have lots of hair, like me). And the pads hold in the sweat well.

I had to block a few outreaching branches with the helmet on my last ride. Solid smacks on the noggin, too. To my surprise, nary a scratch on the plastic. I consider that a good sign.

Will I buy another Hex if smash up this one? Yeah, probably.
