Progressive trail protection for today's all-out riding.

With a little more coverage than traditional helmets, the Giro Feature Helmet offers the protection needed for truly progressive off-road biking. Large vents aid with low-speed cooling on the climb, while the In Form fit system features a one-hand fit and stability adjustment. The in-mold polycarbonate shell and EPS foam liner give you safety-certified protection for your head without excess weight or bulk. Super Fit engineering delivers a custom-like fit for comfort and security. The adjustable moto-style visor keeps the low-sitting sun or rain out of your eyes, and the featherweight webbing with Slimline buckle keeps you nice and streamlined, so you can focus on more important things, like the trail ahead.

I don't fit into typical climbing helmets.

Great Helmet

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I really like the feature helmet. I took a good crash on one and replaced it for another. I also think it is one of the better looking helmets available, but not the best venting.

Great helmet ... BUT

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is helmet is light weight, fits real well and is very comfortable. BUT - the chin strap buckle is so weak that when I yawned it popped open. I find it takes very little force to open the buckle. I am afraid that if I go down, the slightest amount of force will pop the buckle and then my head. If that buckle was not so weak, I'd give it a five.

Fantastic trail helmet

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I arrived at this helmet after toasting a POC and being short on cash...I thought this was more value-oriented, but I was very impressed. Overall it feel lighter on your head, and less bulky, while offering the same or similar coverage, especially on the back of your head. I have always thought Giro had great fit, and that hasn't changed. The strap setup is very light and simple, with no adjustabilty other than length...which is ideal, as it sits closer and more comfortably around your ears. Ventilation is surprisingly good despite the smaller vents. Moto-style adjustable visor is a clutch feature too.

Great Value All Mountain Lid

the feature provides the same great coverage as helmets that cost twice as much. it looks good, easily and securely adjusts, and has a good sized visor that i really appreaciate on sunset rides. while i haven't tried on POC's or Bell's offerings, i am reasonably sure that this helmet doesn't vent as well as others, i usually strap it to my bag on long climbs, then wear it on the way down. on cross country rides, my head gets toasty. the helmet has a couple issue which i have included pictures of below. in general, i think it's a good helmet that provides great coverage. for more money, you can get better ventilation and improved safety features, but on a budget, this is a great choice.

Chin Strap

Chin Strap

the chin strap is not doubled back and stitched. as a result, the strap sometimes works out of the rubber holder. when that happens, the chin strap is able to loosen some.

all the padding is removable so it can be washed. unfortunately, the padding towards the front has part of the fit system going through it. i haven't figured out how to get it out without cutting it or messing with the fit system...

so i finally just pulled hard on the fit system and it popped out. it still seems to work great so i guess that how it's done.

Great Trail Helmet!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Head size 58m or Medium. Objectively, I've had 2 other comparisons, and without naming brands I found one with too big a shell (you look like a mushroom) and another in combi sizes (eg: S/M, M/L, etc) not a right fit - it was either too tight or there too much room. The GIRO Feature got the sizing for me dead-on and with a slim side profile to boot. For those worried about protection, coverage is good on the sides (as with any other lid) with an extended rear coverage (has an adjustable dial), so putting on goggles for mucky days is not a problem. One gripe is that the contact with low branches at speed leaves behind small white scratches (I'm using a black Feature). But positively, it's a reason to stick on the decals to jazz up the Feature. Comfy for an all-day trail ride, without any headache-related squeeze. Love the moto-style peak too.
