A very well-made, good looking shoe. I have the Chrome/White/Teal in a size 37 and I wear a 5.5 or 6 in US women's. I previously had Northwaves in a size 36 using a Superfeet insert so it took a little time to adjust to this shoe. Having high arches, I chose the most supportive arch insert, labeled "L", provided with Giro's adjustable SuperNatural Fit Kit (low "S" and medium "M" also included). I found I had to move the arch inserts much further back than the area outlined for them on the insole. Once they were in the proper position for my feet, the shoes felt great. Bottom line, its worth the time to experiment with the 3 arch inserts and their position on the insole until you find the best fit for your feet.
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
my first thought was "wow a shoe that matches my bike!" as i have a pink Orbea Diva so i just had to purchase this shoe.
so far i've only been on 3 rides with it (30-50 miles+ each) and it was fairly comfortable. i have a hard time finding shoes because i have a bunion on my right foot, but this fits okay (perfect on my left foot). the SuperNatural Fit Kit is great since everyone has different needs when it comes to arch support.
in terms of performance, this shoe is very stiff and i saw an improvement in climbing as my old shoes were carbon fiber composites not full carbon fiber. some of the guys couldn't keep up with me on the hills. it must be the shoes :).
my only complaint is the tongue rides up pretty high on my foot and it gave me a blister so make sure you wear these shoes with higher socks than the no-show ones!
I desperately wanted to love them, after reading good reviews of Giro Factor (Factress is women's model) and heard good feedback from my fitter. I ordered Giro Factress and Shimano R310 on the same day, hoping for the best.
They arrived on the same day coincidentally so I was able to do side-by-side comparison. Out of box, Factress is EXTREMELY light and good looking, much noticeably lighter than R310. Low profile, sleek design, the EC 90 outsole looks really promising. Overall, quality shoe with good finish.
However, as soon as I put it on, the disaster began. I am a size 36 and have a pair of rather wide and "fat" feet. I tried on the Factress in 37 with my summer cycling socks, and immediately discovered that i could barely close up the 1st strap. It's just simply too short to fit - i could have used more force to keep it close up but that's just a bad idea once I am on my bike for hours. Heelcup felt quite secure and comfy as well. My last attempt was to tweak the custom insole and hoping it would allow me more space inside the shoe. Failed, of course, so these shoe would have to go back.
I might get a pair of Espada in 37.5 to see if I can cope with the length, but in the meantime, I will be riding with Shimano R130.
Conclusion: if you have higher volume feet, sadly Giro is not for you.
