Here's what others have to say...

True to size

These are a comfortable mob shoe. The Velcro allows you to crank them down. They run true to size. They are no super stiff, but for the price they are worth it.

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times
    • Fit:True to size

Great fit, comfortable ride, great price, good style.. Overall a great shoe which I would recommend to anyone!

    Quality construction.

I like this shoe a lot, though the Velcro closure makes them difficult to get dialed in for a just right fit. I feel like it would best suit someone with a narrower foot. I have to have the Velcro almost as wide open as it will go, even though I don't feel like me feet are that large.

      comfortable and quality

      • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit:Runs small

The shoes feel great, I may say they run a little short on me (EU 43) but since you can adjust them with the Velcro straps

      High quality shoe, sizing issues

      • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it
      • Fit:Runs small

I liked the shoe itself. Very stiff sole, 3 strong Velcro straps, vivid colors, and quality construction. I have personal experience with Sidi, Bontrager, Lake, and Giro shoes in both road and MTB varieties. I'm a size 11 sneaker in every brand I have, but in cycling shoes, I can wear an 11, 12, 45 or 46. The carbide's run small similar to Sidi shoes. I wear 46 in Sidi, 45 in Bontrager, and 46 Wide in Lake MXZ303's. Basically, the Giro's run narrow across the bridge of the foot. I sent them back for a refund.

If, according to the sizing chart, I should wear a size 39.5 but Backcountry doesn't sell half sizes–should a purchase a size 39 or 40 instead?

They don't offer half sizes in this model so I would size up.

      Clip and Rid

These have been fantastic shoes. I picked up a pair when I purchased my new steed. I use these in conjunction with a pair of Shimano PD-M540 pedals. They have been awesome and have held up really well to what I have thrown at them. They are light weight, stiff where they need to be, and somewhat breathable. I have never had an issue where my feet have been to hot. They do what you expect them to do and are a great deal. They also look totally awesome.

The fit is true to size. I would not hesitate to recommend these to anyone looking for their first pair of biking shoes, or to someone just wanting a new pair. They will last a long time, and they start to feel even better as they break in a bit.

      Good fit and cool!

      • Familiarity:I've used it several times
      • Fit:True to size

Really pleased with the fit of this shoe. Buying online I was concerned about the crossover sizing from my prior shoe manufacturer to Giro, but the Backcountry chat rep helped with the sizing. Shoe has a little more toe lift to facilitate toe spikes than my prior touring shoe, but they are still comfortable to walk in. Shoe allows alot more air flow than my prior shoes making them a lot cooler in Florida heat!

      Fantastic Shoe!

      • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

Wore these for my first cyclocross race this past weekend. Amazing traction, very light and fit snug without cutting off my circulation. Option for toe spikes is great, I'm sure I'll need them for the muddier courses.

Awesome look, awesome performance, and puts the confidence in your feet that you need for racing, mounting, dismounting, and slugging through sand, mud, or whatever the course throws at you.

      Good Value Shoe

      • Familiarity:I've used it several times
      • Fit:Runs large

They are comfortable, and lightweight for my first ever cycling shoe. Running a little large my heel moves around a bit, but in-turn I get good ventilation.

      Seems good for the money

      • Familiarity:I've used it several times
      • Fit:True to size

Seems like a waste to spend a boat load of cash on shoes when you could save those benjamins for actual bike upgrades, that's why I got these bike kicks and they seem to work great. Stiff enough, light enough, comfortable and hold me in. Essentially they do what they're supposed to do for a great price.

I'm pretty disappointed this is on back...

I'm pretty disappointed this is on back order. When is the next shipment due?

Sorry for the inconvenience. We have quite a few of these on the way. Most shipments are expected here around the middle of May. Delivery dates do vary by size however. Please give us a call at 888-276-7130 for exact ETA's by size.

Why no half sizes? I need a 45.5

Why no half sizes? I need a 45.5

Half sizes are not yet available from Giro on the Carbide, Once we're able to order them those size options will be list on the site.

      good fit

good fit to these and they are easy to use. highly recommended

        Great shoe

Solid & comfortable fit and easy quick grab to pedal yet easy to get out of when the time comes. I've had them for quite a few rides now, and still no complaints.

          Nice fit, great deal

I've ridden these guys a few times now and really like them. They're a bit more flexible than super highend stuff, so they're great if you're just out to have fun. I have a mid-fit foot, and these fit well. I usually wear a 45, but those were too small (and I like them tight). I had to send back for the 45.5.

quick question rocky, are these shoes narrow like nikes (i.e. I wear a 10.5 nike but 11 normal shoe) or do cycling shoes have their own standard? PS i know that they are measured in EU measurements.
