Wind protection, simplified.

When it comes to wind and water-resistance, cyclists' choices tend to be limited to graphically overwrought bike-specific jackets or casual, everyday jackets that are ill-equipped for riding. Giro's 3-1 Wind Jacket combines the function of the former with the simple aesthetics of the latter to create a jacket that blocks wind but lets you fly under the radar when you stop for a mid-ride coffee or are out running errands on the bike.

The 3-1 Wind Jacket is made from a 15 denier, 100% nylon ripstop material that, as a discerning reader like yourself has no doubt surmised, shields against the wind. It also resists water, a quality that's further complemented by the waterproof zippers. Despite these protective qualities, the jacket is lightweight and stowable, so you can pack it and use it only when necessary. The fit of the jacket is also designed to accommodate layering, so you can add insulation as conditions require.

The zippers themselves are worth dwelling on, as they enjoy the three-in-one function that gives the 3-1 Jacket its name. The zippers extend from the front, where you'd expect a jacket's pockets to be, up to the underarms and then down to the elbows. This checks three boxes: providing access to storage pockets, a warming little home for your hands, and ventilating openings on the side and under the arms so you don't overheat and arrive at your destination dripping with clamminess.

The Men's Giro 3-1 Wind Jacket is available in five sizes ranging from Small to XX-Large in the colors Glowing Red, Jet Black, and Pewter.

Looks Like A Great Stashable Wind Layer

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size

I ordered this hoping the sizing would work, since BC didn't have a size medium available. I went with a size small since I'm really skinny and thought if the sleeves were long enough I'd be all set.
When I received the Jacket, the materials were everything I was hoping for. Very light and packable (could easily fit in a back jersey pocket). Great venting on the back and sides (areas not getting direct wind on chilly descents).
Unfortunately, the sizing was too small. If I stood straight up and down, it was right about perfect. But as soon as I leaned forward as if on my bike, it felt like I was going to tear the thing in half.
If we've got your size in stock, I'd highly recommend it.

Perfect top layer. Love it!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

I use it from 30 to 60 degrees. It blocks the wind but still breathes, helped by the holes in the back for additional vent. Pit zips also helps in regulating temperature. Absolutely love it.

Just wondering how this jacket holds up to rain.

fit info

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: large

The description says designed for layering, and that had me thinking it would fit loose. The fit is actually very true to size, with the arms a little snug. It's a great piece of gear, well vented, keeps the wind bite off during cycling without overheating you.

Great wind jacket

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: small

Buy it to compliment my Giro wind vest used in 30 something degrees and works great. True to size, great quality

versatile wind shell

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Giro's 3-1 Wind Jacket is a great cycling wind shell. Perfect for hot summer days when I want a light cover. Breathable, very light and very packable. And... a cycling jacket with two side zipper pockets! This is a must-have jacket for me..Fits true to measure.
