When Giordana set out to revamp its popular Silverline Women's Shorts, it did so with the intent of creating a versatile piece for women to wear in a variety riding conditions. Additionally, Giordana knows that not everyone prefers to wear bibs, which is why it released the Silverline Shorts as a blend between bibs and traditional shorts. Giordana accomplished this with its redesigned waist panel that now wraps the waist more comfortably and securely than before.

The Silverline shorts were constructed from Giordana's Nair fabric. This lightweight material was chosen as the primary fabric for the shorts due to its smooth feel and texture. In fact, Nair is one of Giordana's softest fabrics, used for several next-to-skin pieces because of its super silky hand. It's composed of a 200g nylon/spandex blend, which means that its stretchable characteristics work to both support your muscles and to move with your body as you ride. Additionally, the fabric was also chosen for its ability to both breathe and wick moisture away from your skin, which, in turn, helps you stay cool and dry.

For the fit of the shorts, Giordana developed a tall overlapping waist panel that tapers down slightly in the front. This soft roll top design allows you to adjust the height of the panel, creating a fully customizable wrap around your waist. Simply fold the band down on the hips for a low-rise feel, or leave it up for more coverage. Regardless, though, the stretch Nair fabric used for the waist and leg panels will gently hold your leg muscles without any sensations of being overly compressive or restrictive.

The insert of the shorts is Giordana's new Nimbo-W OF. As part of the OmniForm family, the Nimbo-W was created in response to consumer's requests for more substantial women's-specific padding in a chamois. The uppermost layer of the Nimbo utilizes a soft polyester microfiber that incorporates a subtle texture to aid in perspiration management. Below this is a layer of expanded memory foam, and then a thick section of perforated open cell padding that's been thermally bonded to the materials above. The bottom layer was cut to protect you at crucial points against the saddle, comfortably contouring to your anatomy. Independent glute panels finish off the chamois, providing maximum flexibility when the body is in motion.

Contrasting white piping lines the shorts' cuffs, where silicone-backed grippers keep everything perfectly in place.

The Giordana Silverline Women's Shorts are available in five sizes from X-Small to X-Large and in the colors Black w/Black leg band and Black w/Silver leg band.

Here's what others have to say...

Very comfy and excellent padding.

  • Gender:Female
  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:Runs large

I normally wear small in Giordana, but these are very stretchy, so I have xs (I actually bought them for my 12 year old girl, but that was a total misfit, so now I have an extra pair ;-)). They fit tight around the fanny, so they don't get caught by the saddle. Got gribbers around the thigh, which keep them in place without leaving marks. Good length in the back too, and they don't feel tight around the waste when biking. What's not to like, even got them on sale. I did not give them 5 stars, because the sizing is off. I find it annoying that the same brand can't be more consistent with their sizing. But in general I find Giordana to be a high quality brand. Have winter bike bibs, I've used for 15 years! That's pretty good! For a customer point of view at least.

These shorts are so comfortable

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I love the material of these shorts, very soft and silky. I have to say they do stretch a bit more than the Laser shorts I have but, those are compression shorts. I'm 5'3" tall and 125 lbs and I bought a medium. I usually wear a medium in Giordana but, with the stretchy material I would buy a small next time. They look really nice on. They don't look too big or baggy, I think I'm just used to the tight compression shorts. I still love them, I'm keeping them. The back of the shorts do come up far so, you don't have to worry about anything showing and they're not see thru. The bands around the legs are comfortable (not too tight), it has the grippers inside to keep them in place. I also like the chamois it isn't too bulky. I would definitely recommend these shorts.

First time's the charm

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

These are my first bike shorts ever purchased and it's clear I picked a winner. I love the high back so I don't have to worry about constantly adjusting or flashing my goods. The material is soft and silky but very durable. It definitely holds you in, giving muscle/hip support. As my first chamois short, I had to get used to the padding. But once I was, I no longer wanted to ride my bike without any! This one is really comfortable and cushioning, without being too bulky in the back. Another great thing I noticed is that they didn't start to smell or get a funk, even after a long ride. My only complaint for the shorts is that the leg grippers were a bit tight on me. I do have thicker thighs though.
All in all, it's a great short and I would highly recommend!

Great Functionality and Comfort

  • Familiarity:I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit:True to size

Gave these to my cousin for a gift. Here's what she had to say:

Pretty spot on for a medium with her figure.

She likes how stretchy it is for the added mobility while cycling.

Photo is of her in Vermont near the Canadian boarder. Headed to Canada for some French Fries and Gravy....

Great Functionality and Comfort

Nice material but more stretchy

  • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it

I really like the feel of the material in these shorts. The pad has a good level of padding where I need it most. The only problem is that since the material stretches more I will need a smaller size. I also purchased the Laser shorts and they ran to size based on the sizing chart but these will run larger than the sizing chart. I am 5'8" and 140 lbs. I usually wear a medium but this sizing chart showed I should get a large. The large works well for the laser shorts as the material is stiffer and more compressive. These are more stretchy and thus I will reorder a medium.

Love These

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

Great for the price! These are super comfortable to ride in.

The Best

  • Familiarity:I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit:True to size

I myself have owned and loved two pairs of Giordana Fusion shorts so when the time came to buy my wife a new pair of shorts getting her these was a no brainer. The chamois is super comfortable without being bulky. My wife loves the leg length and the style of the waistband as well.

Really Nice but So Pricey :(

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

These shorts have an amazing, silky feel, the chamois provides a comfortable buffer but isn't too bulky, and the silver and white band at the bottom offers a minimal and sleek design element. I am 5' 5" and weigh 120, but I carry more of my weight in my hips/butt/thighs. I tried both the Small and the Medium. The Small was just a tad too tight for me to feel truly comfortable in, but if you are in my height/weight range and your weight is evenly distributed the Small would probably be the way you would want to go. The Mediums have enough extra room on me that I think they'd work for someone who weighs 130/135. It will take me a little while to get used to how high the back is but otherwise the design of the hip band is comfortable and flattering. So if you have the cash, the Giordanas are attractive, comfortable and highly recommended. However, I have never spent this much on an item of cycling clothing in my life, and I've been an avid cyclist for over 30 years. The only way I could justify purchasing is knowing I will take care of them, line dry them and hope they have a looong life span. In the future I'll stick with purchasing my beloved Sugoi Lucky shorts. If you can find them on sale (at Backcountry, of course! Love you guys!), you can buy 2 pairs for the cost of one of the Giordanas, and they have the added benefits of not being a shiny lycra (ie a little more flattering, less slippery on the seat), and having a small pocket on the lower back hip for a key, ID, a few bucks or a small MP3 player.

100 % satisfaction

great fabric, very comfortable, highly recommended

Silverline 'Leg-Grippers'

Stays in place with no binding. The chamois/leg grippers are the same in both the shorts and the knickers. Both are great for the casual and/or curvier figured riders, too, as the fit is more 'forgiving' and relaxed (but not sloppy).

Silverline 'Leg-Grippers'

Silverline chamois

Larger than the Lasers/F.R.C.; overall structure is more relaxed, too.

My 'XL''s measure 7"; and they can easily be pulled down on the thigh a bit more...nice fit, not overly compressive...very comfy and the chamois is very comfy, too. Great also for 'curvier' figures, but is in no way sloppy. You'll love it!

Hope this helps.

bought M, great fabric!

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

I am 130lbs, 5'4.5", bought M, and have tried to fit into the tiny bike shorts that have the unforgiving fabric before, and the ones that run really really small and make me have to buy size L, even had some shorts split open while I try to pull them on mid-ride. :( These are NOT like that! Yay! :) These run true to size (I normally wear a 4 or 6 pant), the fabric is light and stretchy and dries quickly, pull on really easily even when sweaty, and they still hold their shape and fit my butt and thighs nicely. The length is perfect - hitting mid thigh (not too short or too long). The padding is adequate as far as I know - my problem is that my bike seat is terrible, so I might not be the best reviewer. The padding has good distribution and isn't too terrible to walk in. The waist band is really comfortable, coming up a bit higher in back. Overall - best shorts I've ever had! Great in hot weather.

You'll love the Silverline jerseys, too, if you like the fit/performance of the Silverline shorts. Great fit, even if not a super-athlete!

You might like Gore's Xenon line-up, too. They have a great fit, and super-performance, right up there with the Giordana Lasers', and almost as good as the FR-C line, but more comfortable, both in overall fit, and comfortable chamois (and this is coming from a gal that still desperately needs to change out the bike saddle, a mens Fuel EX if it works comfort wise/wicking wise for me, I'm pretty sure it'll work for most all!

Check it out next time, and have a great riding season!

Once more...for the road!

Just got another pair, this time with the black leg-cuff...very sharp. I use these for intermediate rides, and the Lasers' for longer rides, because of the great compression that they offer and superior breathability.

Silverline is perfect for the curvy-figured ladies' out there, who also want & deserve performance & style, too!

    Well Worth the Wait

    • Gender:Female
    • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

Tested this today as the weather in our area was more or less agreeable...just like the knickers: they are so comfortable, not binding at all; very stretchy, leg cuff stayed in place. Chamois very comfortable, and not diaper like, nor quite as obvious as some other brands. Waist band very comfortable, I just have to get used to this style concept, but I will "muffin-top"!!! Perfect for the curvy-bodied woman who also demands quality/performance/style, and not have to compromise! Love it. RECOMMENDED.

UP-DATE: Have since had opportunity to wear several times as the weather is getting warmer...very nice! Ordered another pair, so I have both leg-cuff very comfortable.
