I made the mistake of getting them XL my fault . Got them in large fit right took them out for a ride 50 deg. windy day no leg warmers they felt great on my thighs can't say that about the rest of my expose skin. with that said the compression fit is great they don't ride up your legs, Great for the price you can't lose...
Feels great off the bike. Any amount of endowment and the seams up front rub the sensitive parts of the bits. Or one must tuck 'em back under and crush on the saddle. Feels like the pad is in a female arrangement.
I have been using Giordana shorts exclusively for about 4 years now. I ride in Texas where summers are HOT. The light weight material is a god send, and the vents on some like the Tenax and Laser are great. The material is stronger than you would think, it has compression material in it. Light weight and comfortable on long rides sold me on them. They run small like Castelli and other Italian brands. Americans are bigger on average. I advise not sitting on concrete in these though.
Been riding these on the trainer for the past couple of weeks. Nice short. As previous posters have said the sizing on these is way small. I normally wear a medium in US sizing and ended up with an XL in these shorts. The large was close bu a little too tight for comfort. I also agree with the post about the chamois being a bit too far forward. Covers the right spots but kind of strange placement.
I have been riding in these shorts for about a dozen rides so far (indoors). The pad is on the thick side, very comfortable, and pretty well placed (maybe a hint too far forward, but still covers the proper spots on the saddle side). I think the pad is the strong point of these shorts.
The leg openings do not have any silicone or elastic leg grippers. They manage to stay in place due to the rather snug fit of the legs on these shorts. The legs are very snug... so much so that if you have muscular thighs, you may find you need to "work" these on and in place.
My only real concern is how well the spandex/lycra/moxie material of the shorts will wear. This material is very thin and lightweight. This makes them ideally suited for indoor spin or training rides, or summer rides when the weather is warmer. Riding in cooler temps might feel pretty cold once up to speed. I won't know this for certain until spring arrives.
Overall, pleased with the quality of the shorts and the look - they are quite comfortable on and off the bike. Now, I hope to see how long these shorts will last.
Other shorts used in the past: Performance, Pearl Izumi
I ordered these even though I typically wear Pearl Izumi to try something different. When they arrived (very quickly, thanks Realcyclist) my first reaction was "wow, these are snug - they're more for Contador/Schleck types than Hoshvold (I'm 6'3" 210 lbs.). After riding in them on a two-hour outing they surprised me with their comfort. No saddle soreness whatsoever. They don't provide as much compression as the Pearl Izumi shorts and the fabric is lighter weight, so probably more comfortable in warmer temps. Overall, I give them high marks.
I tried these shorts after returning the Pearl Izumi Elite shorts due to them not fitting properly. I am very happy that I decided to make the switch. Nice looking shorts. Good fit. No annoying silicon hair pulling rubber pieces to keep the shorts in place.
Sizing chart says Medium fits waist 28-32 and Large 32-36. My waist size is 32, so any suggestion which size Giordana short to order? Or do I just order both, and plan to return one? If it helps, I wear medium in Sugoi shorts.
Given this a European brand, and tends to run smaller than U.S sizing..I would go for the Large. However you can always utilize the amazing R.C return policy and just get both..see which is more your cup'o'tea.
