Giordana Nordic AV Shoe Covers $44.95
Watch for black ice.
As a handy companion to Giordana's Nordic Anti-Vento Gloves, the Giordana Nordic Anti-Vento Shoe Covers are designed to keep your feet warm and comfy in the equivalent of gale force Irish winds. Incorporating a membrane of WindTex around the entire foot, these booties will keep your feet supremely warm by preventing the wind from draining all your body heat away from your tootsies. Add to that a neoprene toe cover and you'll have no troubles with numb or frozen feet even after a cold, windy ride in the depths of December.
They have also made use of their effective CamLock zipper system to seal up the rear opening. It is nice and large when unzipped so that you can enjoy an easy entry for your feet, but then it will close securely and stay that way once you zip up and head out for the ride. Add to that a Velcro ankle closure and you'll be able to protect your lowest extremity for the duration of your winter training. And the CamLock zipper is reflective, so that all the traffic behind you will be alerted to your presence on the road.
The Giordana Nordic Anti-Vento Shoe Covers are available in Black and come in sizes Small through X-Large.

- How to Measure:
- Use your shoe size to find your sock size.
- Measure the circumference of your hand around the widest part of the palm not including the thumb, just below the base of the fingers. Giordana gloves are race style, if you have "fat" hands you may want to size up.
What community has to say
Great shoe cover.
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
While the zip can make custom fit a little more tricky the size chart is true to size and they fit well. Warm enough for a colder day (think low 40's) but when it comes to freezing cold winter rides I switch to a warmer cover.
Toasty and dry
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I wore these on a cold windy day this winter (just above freezing) and they kept my toes warm and dry! Not too hard to put on and take off.
Nordic? Not likely....
Giordana makes high quality cycling gear, and sizing was spot on for my cycling shoes, however the labeling of "Nordic" seemed to give this product much more credit that it deserves. These were really ONLY shoe covers, and really lacked sufficient insulation for anything that might be considered adverse or inclement weather.
Additionally, I am not a fan of zippers in the back of cycling booties as nine times outta 10 the zipper blows out and doesn't last longer than a single season.
Breathable, not overheating
I have worn these with both mountain and road bike setups with good results. The Nordic AV is breathable and wind stopping, but not heavily insulated. I've still experienced chilly toes during rides around freezing (that said, my toes are always the first part of my body to get cold, regardless of footwear.) The cleat cutout is a generous size, and I was surprised how well it fit over my cleated mountain bike shoes, and even stood up well to hiking through some of the steep stuff.
I consider this shoe cover ideal for temps in the 35-50 degree range. At colder temps it might stave off frostbite, but there are warmer booties out there. But for a shoe cover you won't find yourself tearing off as soon as the sun crests the ridgeline, this would be a great choice.
