Giordana Independence Women's Bib Shorts $0.00
Style never felt so good
Too often, we see the pursuit of one objective hinder the totality of another. Style-driven apparel couldn't care less about comfort, and vice versa. Lucky for you, we understand your plight, so we pulled some strings with Giordana to create the Independence Women's Bib Shorts. Basically, the anatomic design and high-end fabrics make for the holy grail of cycling apparel -- the equal balance of style, comfort, and price.
Printed on the Giordana Alta Gamma, the Independence bib shorts use a 240g high-compression Endurance Lycra. The compression system uses a wrap pattern that compresses the inner leg to assist in the reduction of fatigue and the buildup of lactic acids. Above all, the Independence bib shorts are comfortable. They use micro mesh uppers, flatlock stitching, and Giordana's top-tier W.Cirro O.F. Chamois. In fact, Giordana touts it as the most advanced in the industry. We don't deal in absolutes, but we can say that it's the first chamois we've heard of with Aloe Vera particles directly infused into the threads of the microfiber. Aloe is not only a natural bacteria fighter, but its implantation in the fiber provides a cooling effect that protects and heals during activity. Below the skin layer, the Cirro has a 4mm-thick pad of waffled-texture expanding memory foam. The texture aids in ventilation by moving moisture to the perimeter of the chamois where accelerated evaporation can occur. The final layer of the chamois is a thick section of hand-sewn open cell padding with recessed channels for pressure relief. These technologies amount to a chamois that won't get wet and nasty 100 miles into a ride, let alone 20.
The Giordana Independence Women's Bib Shorts are available in the color Black and in five sizes from Small to XX-Large.
Note: Giordana cycling apparel has a tight fit, do not expect a baggy or roomy fit.

The Actual Chamois is WMC3OF
I don't know how good these actually are, but the top of the line chamois is not the one in these bibs. I figured it wasn't going to be giordana's top of the line chamois based on the excellent price so I took the risk when I bought them. I'll let everyone know how they are once my GF tries them out, which probably won't be until May, given that the 17 degree forecast for today in Minneapolis seemed balmy compared to the negative highs we've had in previous days.
That being said, I can't speak from experience with women's specific chamois, but Giordana makes great men's chamois (my favorite, or second favorite depending on the day). I have shorts with both the top of the line Cirro and the bottom of the range MC3. Both are comfy and do not chafe. I would say the main difference between the two is that the Cirro is comfortable forever, and the MC3 is only comfortable for the first 1-2 hours, although definitely wearable after that and far superior to other bottom of the range chamoises.
Overall the construction looks solid--just like all of the Giordana men's shorts I own--and for women who desire a decidedly neutral, non-feminine color palette, these shorts look great. Black and white matches any other gear and you don't risk any of the dreaded see-through factor. For $50 I don't really think you could do better.
I'll update on my GFs opinion on comfort, fit, etc. once she has received them, perhaps tried them on the trainer, as they are a gift not yet given.
