Giordana HydroShield Shoe Covers $44.95
Because you can't outrun the rain.
Even if you have a good pair of mud guards on the front and back wheel of your bike, your feet are still going to suffer from the amount of water and spray they'll encounter on a seriously wet ride. The Giordana Hydroshield Waterproof Shoe Covers will be your BFFs in wet weather. By using HydroShield, these booties will seal out all amounts of wet and grimy elements.
Heel zippers and Velcro closures beneath the cleats have been incorporated so that the booties will be easy to get on and off without compromising the effectiveness of the protection. And so that no water will start dripping down the tops of the booties, a tall soft elastic reinforces around the ankle. Rubberized reinforcements at the front of the booties will ensure their extended durability and add just that touch more of protection. Reflective inserts have been added at the heels since if you are riding in the rain, you almost certainly will also be riding in low level lighting situations.
The Giordana Hydroshield Waterproof Shoe Covers come in Black and are available in sizes Small through X-Large.

- How to Measure:
- Use your shoe size to find your sock size.
- Measure the circumference of your hand around the widest part of the palm not including the thumb, just below the base of the fingers. Giordana gloves are race style, if you have "fat" hands you may want to size up.

I love running, but I never do so great in the rain. What can I do to make my shoes last in the rain? How can I protect my clothes and increase my performance in harsh weather? www.watereng.com.au
These are more designed to protect cycling shoes in inclement weather. You should be checking out waterproof running shoes, look for keywords like GTX (which stands for Gore-Tex). Here's a link to get your search started.
Please chat or call in as our Gearheads would be happy to make more specific recommendations.
Do you work for PMT? I checked out that link and they seem pretty rad.
As far as running in harsher weather you kinda just have to commit to getting wet. What you really want to invest in would be really good base layers or next to skin performance wear that will draw most of the moisture away from your body.
Here are some examples:
If you really can't stand the feel of rain then look into a jacket like MHW2341. If you go for fully waterproof it will trap heat an moisture in while you are running and you will feel wet and clammy anyway.
You might also want to shield your eyes from the rain so that you don't accidentally run into traffic. ICE1108
If you want you can get a pair of shoes with a waterproof membrane like Goretex but personally I just go with a really light and breathable shoe and let the water run through my toes. ASC002K
snug fit but that's a good thing
- Gender: Male
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Large size is definitely snug against a 44 Giro Gauge MTB shoe. Opening the arch velcro helps get them on. Ankle opening is very snug around a skinny ankle, almost to the point that I'm a little concerned about potential circulation issues with my feet. I'm trying them out now and will update with more details later.
UPDATE: Ride home was solid, the zipper garage is tough to get around the zipper once it's on which left the zipper a little irritating against my leg. Over time I think the ankle opening will stretch some.
UPDATE 2: With road shoes the heel of the cover slips completely underneath the heal of the shoe, the toe is already showing signs of significant wear and the seams are ripping. Back they go!
GREAT IF YOU HAVE REALLY SKINNY ANKLES
- Gender: Male
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
In general, looks like a well made product. The large size fit my 43.5 2013 Specialized S-Work road shoe ok (a little tight - tough to get over the boa dials), but the shoe cover is so tight around my ankles (just above my ankles) that it was very uncomfortable, and I have skinny ankles! The material at the ankle has VERY LITTLE stretch. I realize it's good to have them fit snug to prevent water from leaking in, but these covers would benefit by having an adjustable strap at the top ... just sayin'. I will return for an XL and see if the fit around my ankles is better without being too loose around my shoes. Btw - The sizing on the Giordana website is more accurate IMHO.
Great Rain Bootie
My husband does a lot of training in the rain. He has skinny ankles so these work perfectly. Usually booties gap on him at the ankles. If you don't have skinny ankles, they might be tight. Otherwise, they are true to shoe size.
The ankle is extremly small on these that is the only down side. The fit is perfect on the shoe though. I wear them either way and it they still keep my feet dry, which is a nice change, I no longer want to bail out after 1hr on those cold wet rides.
Size way small!
I ordered these with the notion that I was finally going to find a shoe cover that fits my speedplay cleats (fitted way back). I received them as ordered, but to my dismay they were too small! I have Specialized S-Works shoes size 39, and I could get barely get them around the heel. However, that was not the dealbreaker. I have some skinny ankles, and these did not come even close to getting around them. The product is well made, feels great, and looks fantastic. I have no doubt that if it would have fit, it would have suited my needs perfectly. However, it sizes quite small, and for that reason I had to exchange it. I marked it down because Giordana should indicate on their sizing charts that they size quite small. Make sure that you order at least one size larger than you would expect to.
