A legend becomes even more legendary.

How many fabrics does it take to make one of the world's best jerseys? Feel like you've heard this one before? Well, the answer is embodied in the Giordana FormaRed Carbon Jersey and the answer is actually five. If it seems like overkill, keep in mind that this is the top jersey offering from Giordana. So, whether you're calling it FormaRed, FRC, or that one really nice Giordana jersey, you're talking about highest levels of Italian quality.

Starting with the bulk of the jersey's construction, Giordana went with its slightly compressive and incredibly soft Asteria 2.0 fabric. With a nylon/Lycra composition weight of 140g/m2, the FormaRed Carbon (FRC) jersey provides a high-level of muscle support, nearly approaching the medical compression level (240g/m2). So, at FRC's denier, you can't expect much promotion of blood flow to the heart, but your muscle groups will receive some assistance at resisting road vibration and oscillation. Additionally, the material's threads per centimeter (TPC) is among the highest available on the market. In fact, prior to Asteria 2.0, the highest thread count hovered around 36 TPC. This means that, compared to most competition, the FRC is softer, more conforming, and has a higher level of wicking capability. And remarkably, Asteria 2.0 achieves this at a lighter weight than most Lycra blends. Why is this important? Well, if you've worn compressive fabrics, you'll have notice that their heavy in comparison to traditional Lycra. So, this fabric encompasses their key traits without the detriment of a weighty, poorly-breathing composition.

For moisture management, Asteria 2.0 features a honeycomb knit construction that rapidly pulls moisture away from the skin. From there, the moisture rapidly evaporates at the surface due to the fabric's new treatment. However, with Asteria's breathability being coupled with the ultralight Kite mesh panels at the underarms and inner-collar, thermo-regulation and core temperature are so well managed that your perspiration will greatly reduced. But, should you need to perform an on-the-fly heat dump during an HC, the zipper is equipped with a full-length camlock zipper.

Now, you're probably starting to wonder where the 'carbon' is in FormaRed Carbon? Well, it's actually covering the back and side panels -- Host Carbon to be exact. Essentially, this material features a lightweight composition with a carbon fiber filament. Why? Essentially, with the carbon filament, material stretch becomes omnidirectional and controlled, but not just in the supportive sense. Basically, the carbon reinforces the honeycomb-knit Lycra, making it lighter, yet stronger, and allowing to universally stretch in all directions, not just four-way. Additionally, the carbon fiber blocks out static and rogue atmospheric electrical interference for an increased anaerobic output and a delayed onset of fatigue.

Rounding out the construction is the most important feature of the jersey, its fit. FRC benefits from Giordana's innovative contoured cut. Essentially, the jersey has been created on a curve in order to clone your body in the cycling position. By doing this, abrasion is minimized, and fabric bunching and pinching is eliminated. To secure this position, Giordana incorporated its AeroLite arm cuffs and a wide elastic jacquard rear waistband. At the cuffs, the new AeroLite design uses a low-profile, seamless cuff that holds strong while maintaining an aerodynamic presence. And for further comfort, the entirety of the jersey have been constructed with four-needle flatlock stitched seams.

For housing your ride essentials, the jersey features three rear cargo pockets and a zippered security pocket, as well.

The Giordana FormaRed Carbon Jersey is available in six sizes from Small to XX-Large and in the colors Black/white, Blue/white, Fluo Yellow/white, Red/white, and White/black.
