Giordana Trade FormaRed Carbon Men's Jersey $0.00
What's your sign?
The timeless seal of Giordana quality is that of Sagittarius -- the astrological centaur and his mighty bow. This celestial being represents the fiery symbolism of action-oriented energy and the spontaneity of passionate expression found in cycling. And like the higher-minded Sagittarius, the Giordana Trade FormaRed Carbon Jersey will hone your ability towards adapting and modifying your efforts with regard to the harsh demands of your training and racing environments.
Starting with the bulk of the jersey's construction, Giordana went with its slightly compressive and incredibly soft Asteria 2.0 fabric. With a nylon/Lycra composition weight of 140g/m2, the FormaRed Carbon (FRC) jersey provides a high-level of muscle support, nearly approaching the medical compression level (240g/m2). So, at FRC's denier, you can't expect much promotion of blood flow to the heart, but your muscle groups will receive some assistance at resisting road vibration and oscillation. Additionally, the material's threads per centimeter (TPC) is among the highest available on the market. In fact, prior to Asteria 2.0, the highest thread count hovered around 36 TPC. This means that, compared to most competition, the FRC is softer, more conforming, and has a higher level of wicking capability. And remarkably, Asteria 2.0 achieves this at a lighter weight than most Lycra blends. Why is this important? Well, if you've worn compressive fabrics, you'll have notice that their heavy in comparison to traditional Lycra. So, this fabric encompasses their key traits without the detriment of a weighty, poorly-breathing composition.
For moisture management, Asteria 2.0 features a honeycomb knit construction that rapidly pulls moisture away from the skin. From there, the moisture rapidly evaporates at the surface due to the fabric's new treatment. However, with Asteria's breathability being coupled with the ultralight Micro-mesh panels at the underarms and inner-collar, thermo-regulation and core temperature are so well managed that your perspiration will greatly reduced. But, should you need to perform an on-the-fly heat dump during an HC, the zipper is equipped with a full-length camlock zipper.
Now, you're probably starting to wonder where the 'carbon' is in FormaRed Carbon. Well, it's actually covering the back and side panels -- Host Carbon to be exact. Essentially, this material features a lightweight composition with a carbon fiber filament. Why? Essentially, with the carbon filament, material stretch becomes omnidirectional and controlled, but not just in the supportive sense. Basically, the carbon reinforces the honeycomb-knit Lycra, making it lighter, yet stronger, and allowing to universally stretch in all directions, not just four-way. Additionally, the carbon fiber blocks out static and rogue atmospheric electrical interference for an increased anaerobic output and a delayed onset of fatigue.
Rounding out the construction is the most important feature of the jersey, its fit. FRC benefits from Giordana's innovative contoured cut. Essentially, the jersey has been created on a curve in order to clone your body in the cycling position. By doing this, abrasion is minimized, and fabric bunching and pinching is eliminated. To secure this position, Giordana incorporated its Aerofix arm cuffs and waistband. At the cuffs, the new Aerofix design uses a low-profile, seamless cuff that holds strong while maintaining an aerodynamic presence. And for further comfort, the entirety of the jersey have been constructed with four-needle flatlock stitched seams.
For housing your ride essentials, the jersey features three rear cargo pockets and a zippered security pocket, as well.
The Giordana Trade FormaRed Carbon Jersey is available in six sizes from Small to XXX-Large and in the colors Giordana Black/titanium, Giordana Black/white/red, Giordana Black/titanium/red, Giordana Black/white/red, Giordana Black/fluo yellow, and Giordana White/red.

Race quality fit and engineering.
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Being a slimmer male finding a snug fitting jersey that doesn't leave loose material to flap around in the wind can sometimes be hard to find. Giordanas' FRC range is a solution to this treasure hunt. I purchased this jersey in a small and have worn this garment on many occasions, be it in 40 degree Australian summer days, or on cooler spring/autumn rides this jersey provides significant wicking and breathability whether worn on its own, with a base layer or layered below a winter jacket. Its European inspired race fit with longer sleeves and high collar provide a firm supportive fit that compresses to your body shape well. Rear pockets are snug and don't tend to sag like some other branded jerseys, however some people may see this sag as reason to bring more gear along. I had purchased the Black/Fluro Yellow jersey which provides a good amount of visibility without looking like a road work sign. The only detail I found that was lacking in this jersey which my other Giordana Trade Predator FRC jersey included was a routing hole for headphone cable from the rear pocket. It may have been included as a standard feature in previous years and they've done away with it this time around, it has no affect on the performance or quality of the end product and is only a minor detail.
This jersey along with its purchased matching bib has made its way to the top of my collection as has the dependability and quality of the Giordana product line.
My Favorite Jersey
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I bought a size XL, and the fits is perfect, I like that the Jersey is not too long on the back. Great for those warm days, I bought the white/red and the breathability is just amazing, as well the compression. I'm 197 lb's 5'11', chest 41" waist 36". Compared to the laser from Giordana, the fit is a bit tighter more snug race fit. the fabric is thinner on the front side, so be aware when getting wet, it will become more transparent in this color. I like that the pockets are tight, things stay fit and the small zipped side pocket is good for ID etc. This in combination with the Trade forma bibs is my favorite riding gear, I can highly recommend this if you want a more snug and high performing outfit. Well worth the price.

- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I wore this jersey, along with the Trade FormaRed Carbon bib shorts for the first time today on a 40 mile ride with about 4000 feet of climbing in full summer heat. The Black/titanium may not have been the best color choice for a hot day, but I'm still very pleased. I'm 5'11" 195, with a 42" chest and a 36" waist. The XL jersey and bibs fit me very well. There is enough length in both that a person several inches taller could easily wear them. The jersey did well with the pockets fully loaded with snacks, tools and a third full water bottle, both unzipped for the hot climb, and fully zipped for the fast descent. Items in the pockets did not shift or bounce at all. I expect this will become one of the first riding kits I reach for. I highly recommend pairing it with the matching Trade FormaRed Carbon bib shorts:
