Competitive Cyclist Team Corsa Vest

When it came time to outfit our team, we knew that they had to be warm and comfortable while they were stacking on base miles throughout the winter. The Corsa Vest from Giordana was the answer. It's heavy enough to layer over a long sleeve jersey on all but the most brutally cold days, and the three large back pockets give you plenty of room to stow warmers and nutrition. With the Corsa Vest, the Competitive Cyclist Team was able to train through unpredictable weather, resulting in victories from Battenkill to the Cascade Classic. Even better for you, these are the actual team-issued Corsa Vests that were left over from the season. But, once they're gone, they're gone.

The front of the Corsa Vest is constructed from Giordana’s three-layer Corsa fabric. Starting at the outermost layer of Corsa, we find a smooth, DWR-treated surface. What is DWR? Essentially, it's water-repellent fluoropolymer that bonds with the Corsa fibers in order to create a wind-resistant and water-beading level of defense against the elements. At the middle-layer, Corsa features a Windtex membrane that further repels wind and water, while retaining a high level of breathability. The reason for this is simple -- even in the coldest weather, a cyclist's body creates a tremendous amount of heat. Basically, the body attempts to disperse this heat through perspiration and vasodilation (the dilation of blood vessels that decrease blood pressure). To aid in thermo-regulation, Windtex maintains a comfortable micro-climate against the body by releasing the perspiration into the top-layer, where it quickly evaporates. Finally, the innermost layer applies a soft-brushed microfiber directly against the skin with a high enough loft that moisture is pulled away from the skin, resulting in a dry, consistent level of warmth.

At the back of the vest, Giordana’s SupeRoubaix microfiber was selected for its enhanced ability to wick moisture away from the body. As moisture is wicked to the surface, it's quickly evaporated, contributing to the driest surface possible -- especially important on your back, where wet fabric is likely to cause chills when hunkered down in the drops.

The vest provides a true-to-form race-cut with a tall collar. By holding all openings close to your body, drafts are virtually eliminated. Additionally, the SupeRoubaix panels on the back provide light compressive support to accentuate the conforming fit, without reducing your freedom of movement.

A full-length zipper closes everything up, and for extra weather protection, it's been backed by a flap of the Corsa fabric. Giordana has also place three generous rear pockets to provide enough room for all of your training essentials.
