The Garmin Speed/Cadence Sensor is sold separately from its parent units because sometimes accidents happen, necessitating the replacement of originals, but also because the Speed/Cadence sensor allows you to unlock certain features of your Garmin in case you opted to skip the bundled package when you bought it.

Self-calibrating and easily installable via zip ties, the wireless sensor is designed to attach to chainstays. Once there, the sensor serves the dual purposes of monitoring both your pedaling cadence rate, and also the overall speed of your bike, improving accuracy of ride calculation metrics such as overall distance and average speed, and allowing the unit to more accurately estimate total power output, caloric burning rate, and more.

The Garmin Speed/Cadence Sensor comes in one size and in the color Black. It installs via the included zip ties and requires one (included) CR2032 to operate. It is compatible with Edge and Forerunner models 50, 60, 70, 305, 310XT, 405, 405CX, 410, 500, 510, 610, 620, 705, 800, 810, 910XT, and many more Garmin products listed below.

So easy to swap bikes

I purchased these because my old sensor was not ant+. I have been very satisfied; particularly with how easy it is to move them from one bike to another. With no outside magnets to line up, you just loop the rubber band and go! With automatic calibration this means the speed sensor works with any wheel size and mount on front or rear. I say this because one wheel hub was so thick I was afraid of breaking the rubber fastener; no problem, put it on the other (thinner) wheel hub. Have put these through lots of rain and dirt, left them on my bike while washing, and shaken them up gravel riding and mountain biking - still working great.

I just put this speed and cadence sensor on my bike. They are super easy to install. The speed sensor just goes around your front or rear hub, and the cadence sensor installs on your crank with a rubber band (included). The setup is super easy. I had the previous generation cadence sensor, and while it did work just fine, the new version is easier to install and makes it easier if you want transfer it to other bikes.

    I tend to switch out my wheels quite a bit and this sensor is very easy to move over to my other wheel sets. In the past I've had to deal with lining up magnets which was a real pain. I have had some issues with it taking a long time to "wake up" and had to go buy a new battery which apparently wasn't the cause.

    After 6 years my GSC-10 started to give me problems and it needed to be replaced. I find that this two piece unit needs time to wake up and will on occasion drop during a ride (speed or cadence). Accurate, yes, but I just don't feel it's as reliable as the GSC-10.

    Upgrade

      Much better system than the sensors I got as part of my 510 package. I'm upgrading to the 520 and bought these sensors to go along with the new computer. The setup is so much simpler and cleaner.

      Unanswered Question

      I have Garmin GPSMAP® 62s. Does sensor really work with my device? I can not find information about it in the Internet.

      Used to have the old one where you have to use zip ties to hold the cadence sensor and mount the magnet. Pretty lame and not very portable. This one is way easier. Cadence sensor was easy to mount and sync. The only problem I had was that the speed sensor had some issues getting detected. Some advice: if the speed sensor doesn't sync, take out the battery and wipe the little oil off. Mount battery cage back on and smack it against the back of the pawn until you see the light on top blink. I bought another pair for my other bike due to me being lazy.

      Attaches simply and quickly. No magnets, pair automatically with my Garmin 510. Great sensors. 2000 miles so far.

      I got the new magnet free speed / cadence sensors to go on the second bike. Connected without an issue. No spikes no delays. Easy to attach and no chunky sensor unit attached to the frame
