La Fleche Wallonne is unlike any of the other Spring Classics. Why? Because it's only race that detonates so violently in its final moments. No matter how perfectly a rider plays the first 198.7km, his entire day can (and often does) collapse in the final 1.3km on the 128m ascent of the Mur de Huy. It's been the finale of the race since 1983, with an average grade of 9.3%, some sections at 17%, with a 26% kicker in one of the final corners.

The Walloon Rooster is the emblem of Wallonia and the French community of Belgium, and has long served as a symbol of La Fleche Wallonne.
