G-Form Shin Pads $0.00
Sweaty shins are uncomfortable, bruised shins are worse. Of course, any body armor is going to warm things up a bit, but lightweight, soft shell pads usually don't provide adequate protection for serious DH riding. G-Form thinks it has the answer. The Shin Pads have G-Form's proprietary RPT padding, a material that transforms from soft to hard shell protection in a millisecond.
Because of the glaring inadequacies of hard- and soft-shell body armor, the good folks at G-Form decided to come up with a new, revolutionary design. They felt that hard shell armor was uncomfortable and soft shell armor didn't provide enough protection. G-Form's RPT splits the difference. It's both, and neither. RPT is a soft, flexible foam material that conforms to the contours of your body. However, in the event of an impact, it hardens instantly to provide the protection of a hard shell. It truly is the best of both worlds. RPT actually protects even better than hard shell because it absorbs the impact to prevent damage caused by repeated, rebounding impacts.
The G-Form Shin Pad is made up of a fabric main body and a large RPT pad. The main body is stretchy, breathable synthetic fabric. This material allows air to pass through so your skin can breathe and you can stay cool. It also keeps the pad firmly in place so your shin protection stays in place whether you're standing on the descent or grinding your way up the climb in the seated position.
The G-Form Shin Pad is available in four sizes: Small through X-Large. It comes in Black or Yellow.

- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I've had these pads for about 2 months and the stitching holding the actual pad to the lycra sleeve is coming undone. They provide adequate protection for most impacts, but they aren't made to last.
Not made to last?

I ordered this product for shin protection. I am an XC rider in flats, and we all know once in a while you might slip of the pedal and the pins can take a chunk out of your shins, right? Because I was looking for something not as burly/bulky as the hard knee/shin combo, this was recommended to me by a CSR. When I slipped them on, they felt perfect, like the right amount of protection, but the sleeve like style of them has the potential to get hot if the weather is warm out. After 1.5 hours on the bike, already the stitching that holds the protective RPT pad was coming loose, and the RPT pad, designed "protect you from repeated impacts " already has chunks taken out of it. I can't imagine them lasting more than a season. It's not like I was slipping off my pedals a lot, but everyone does once in a while, unless they are Danny McAskill.
