Description

You haven't seen anything like it.

As mountain bikers, we all push our limits -- sometimes too far. Accordingly, we take falls from time to time. And while rolling the dice is certainly fun,we all need to make sure that it stays that way. For this very reason, G-Form built the Protective Compression Shirt. It's essentially a wicking base layer, with the added protection of rate-sensitive impact pads that stiffen under impact, but remain flexible the rest of the time. Ultimately, this means that you have a much better chance of laughing it off the next time that you roll snake eyes.

G-Form starts with a close-fitting compression shirt with attached pads that are anatomically positioned. And like any good base layer, the top is breathable and wicking in order to keep you dry over the long haul. However, it's the PORON® XRD™ impact panels that really set this protective shirt apart. This is a rate-dependent material, which is a just another way of saying that it stiffens under impact. And because of the articulated cut, position, and flexibility of the pads, you may find yourself completely forgetting that your base layer has integrated protection. But, when you hit the deck, impact forces cause the pads to stiffen. In fact, they're able to effectively dissipate up to 90% of crash energy before it's absorbed by your body. Additionally, the placement of the pads yields protection for your shoulders, sternum, and the vulnerable organs at your core.

This compression shirt provides effective protection against scrapes and bruises, but for applications that require maximum protection, such as freeride or downhill, we recommend the use of a compression suit with hard-shell pads. However, the blend of barely-there comfort and protection makes this an ideal top for trail riding.

The G-Form Protective Compression Shirt is available in four sizes from Small to X-Large and in the colors Black and Yellow.

Awesome!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Was hesitant to get this at first since there wasn't any reviews on this product. My shoulder caught a tree leaning into a turn, so I decided I needed something light and something to protect my shoulders. This is definitely the answer! Padding isn't extensive but just enough to take the brunt of the impact! I pin balled off a tree and noticed that it absorbed a lot of the impact, no bruise! I wore in the Oklahoma heat and was fine. The material is moisture wicking so it works great as a base layer! So comfortable I forgot I was wearing it. I'm 5'10" 200 lbs, bought a med, fit perfectly.
