Toss the the hot, uncomfortable hard shell body armor. Ditch the flimsy, inadequate soft shell knee pads. There's a new sheriff in town, and it's called the G-Form Knee Pad with Reactive Protection Technology.

Because of the glaring inadequacies of hard- and soft-shell body armor, the good folks at G-Form decided to come up with a new, revolutionary design. They felt that hard shell armor was uncomfortable and soft shell armor didn't provide enough protection. G-Form's RPT splits the difference. It's both, and neither. RPT is a soft, flexible foam material that conforms to the contours of your body. However, in the event of an impact, it hardens instantly to provide the protection of a hard shell. It truly is the best of both worlds. RPT actually protects even better than hard shell because it absorbs the impact to prevent damage caused by repeated, rebounding impacts.

The G-Form Knee Pad is made up of a fabric main body and a large RPT pad. The main body is stretchy, breathable synthetic fabric. This material allows air to pass through so your skin can breathe and you can stay cool. It also keeps the pad firmly in place so your knee protection stays in place whether you're standing on the descent or grinding your way up the climb in the seated position.

The G-Form Knee Pad is available in five sizes: Small through XX-Large. It comes in Black or Yellow.

Useless Sizing Chart

My knee measurement was smack in the middle of the size S on the chart, so I assumed the lower end of these would be stretchy enough even though my lower legs aren't sticks. Boy was I wrong! I could barely squeeze these over my calves to get the pad centered over my knee. I tried to sort of roll up the bottom up higher so it wasn't trying to actually stay at the largest part of my calf... but then it took me 5 minutes to get them back off (trying carefully to not rip them since obviously I knew I would have to return them). It's really disappointing that they can't put together an extra sizing piece of information b/c as it stands I'm not going to order the next size up when I might have to just keep paying s&h to return them!

Are these sold as a pair or each?

    Hey Geno!

I just purchased these last week!

They are sold as a pair.

    Seemed promising, couldn't use

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought the XL after much review online and because my legs are huge. They seemed to fit just barely, but did work. I rode one time with them and half way through i gave up. They wouldn't stay up and seemed a bit bulky. Might be because I'm a hairy dude? either way, they were more of an annoyance then a help.

Quite the disappointment both in sizing and in use. I have the elbow pads and they are much different. Ill be returning them as I've been unimpressed.

    Runs small

I am NOT known for having bulky legs by any stretch of the imagination, and these ran very small. They were tight to the point of discomfort, and I could not wear them longer than about five minutes... so I am returning them for a larger size. The elbow pads fit and worked well, which is why I am giving the overall product a 3/5 stars. I think with the correct fit, these will be perfect

Do they stretch out at all after extended use?

      Size issues

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

the pads offered great protection and fit around the knee area... HOWEVER the upper calf and lower thigh areas were WAY too tight. So much so that it was difficult to get the pads on, and afterwards they were constantly annoying and sometimes painful due to tightness. I measured my knee as per instructions. If you're in the upper range of your current size, I'd recommend going to the next higher size. In the end I had to return these.

      Great low-profile option

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These are without a doubt the lowest profile, most comfortable knee pads to pedal in. They do fit snug, and you definitely can't just "pull them on" as another review said. I have to inch mine on, but once they're in place, they stay there. The G-forms trade bulk/padding for mobility, so if you're going nuts out there, you may want to look at other offerings, the Fox Launch Pro is one I'm a fan of.

      Best knee pads I've used

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

After falling badly on ice last season, I needed a way to protect them this season. I tried other pads, but hated the added bulk or lack of protection. The g-form are super lightweight. They really do what they say they do. I took one spill in some icy spots and they hardened up on impact. Nice! Only complaint is they slide a little but not much to the point that they are useless. Great purchase

      Am I even wearing pads???

Most of the time I forget that Im even wearing these. The fact that I dont even remember falling on my knees pretty much speaks for itself. They are super low profile and when I wear them to work you dont even notice them under my slim fit jeans. They give really good protection. Its not the same as bulky plastic pads but you dont need much more than a little padding when snowboarding. Im totally happy with these pads

How do I know what size to buy? I'm 6'0"...

How do I know what size to buy? I'm 6'0" and 185...would that be an XL?

mesure around the point of your knee. look at the sizing chart in the earlier posts. If your are right in the middle of sizes, go with the larger size.

        Excellent Product

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Better to be safe than sorry, this product helps protect you. These sleeves are pretty comfortable, but not as comfortable as the elbow sleeves by G-Form. They bunch up a little under the knee, but I have gotten used to them and like them. I believe they are perfect for backcountry or cross country biking but probably not for extreme downhill.

I'm 5'9" and 165 lbs with stocky legs and the large fit perfectly. they aren't loose nor too tight.

        Lets get this straight....

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

First ask yourself what type of riding you do? Your going to need different protection if you cross country race versus Enduro racing or red bull antics. I used the POC knee pads for a season but they began to cause some signficant pain issues I suspect were related to changing the movement of my patella. I gave up on them even though POC provided serious protection. I moved to G Form knowing then as I do now that they don't provide the same protection as POC but they do provide descent protection for the cost and for their low bulk and weight. First time riding with them was on porcupine trail. Did an over the bar crash and landed right on my knee; got up and kept riding and no knee problems! Sold.

Do not put on and "yank" them up as they will rip. You need to slide onto lower calf and then pinch the actual padding between your finger and thump and pull up gently to set into place. Overall happy with these because they are such low bulk, easy to ride and over better than average protection. 4/5 stars because the fabric did rip when I put them on and they never mentioned this on the packaging.

        Great Fit

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I returned the Riot kneepads for comfort reasons, but the G-Form is on the opposite end of the spectrum when it comes to comfort. They are shaped perfectly while maintaining coverage in the right places. The material is what makes the real difference too. I ride in the Texas heat, and the breathable material makes it tolerable.

        G formed opinion

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Tonight was first ride after having Bursa removed from left elbow. Surgery unrelated to MTB. During the down time I researched pads as I'm an intermediate rider and ride with an expert and another intermediate rider. We have hit some higher speeds going down hill so researched and pads seem appropriate. I bought the G force knee and Elbow pads. It was super hot here in Cali and we were doing a simpler trail with a lot of switch backs. I threw the elbow pads on the protect the elbow with surgery and not the knee as the heat was mid 90s. I had a low speed slide out on gravel into some brush. Hit the left elbow.... Not a scratch bruise or sign of crash. My knee has a little road rash but would have had none if pads were on. I felt nothing on the elbow. Pads were as advertised. Obviously these are not for intense FR or DH riding. Oooooo also if you sized properly don't even know they are there and do not slip from ride or slide. Great product for my riding.

how do you determine size? Thanks Conn...
