As trails get faster and bikes get more capable, it only makes sense that protective gear needs to evolve at even rate. That's where the G-Form Elbow Pads enter the picture. When you put them on, they feel like summer-weight arm warmers. However, the rate-dependent pads stiffen under impact. So, you get the protection that you need, without having to resort to hockey pads in the process.
G Form's pads start with a close-fitting sleeve to which its pads are attached. The upshot to this construction method is that the sleeves are breathable and highly flexible -- much more so than traditional pad constructions. But, it's the PORON® XRD™ impact panels that really set these apart. Essentially, this is a rate-dependent material, which is a fancy way of saying that it stiffens under impact. Basically, when you're wearing them, it feels like a regular arm sleeve, because the articulated impact pads move so effortlessly with your arm. Additionally, the pad remains soft in that case, enhancing your freedom of movement. But, if you take a tumble onto the pad, the impact causes the pad to stiffen. This way, it effectively dissipates the majority of impact energy before it's absorbed by your body.
These pads provide effective protection against scrapes and bruises, but for applications that require maximum protection, such as freeride or downhill, these aren't as protective as a true hard-shell pad. However, the blend of barely-there comfort and protection makes these pads ideal for trail riding.
The G-Form Elbow Pads are available in five sizes from Small to XX-Large and in the colors Black and Yellow.
