Fulcrum Racing Zero Wheelset - Clincher $0.00
The Fulcrum Racing Zero Wheelset is Fulcrum's lightest alloy clincher in the line. Tipping the scales a full 50 grams lighter than the Racing 1, and 25 grams lighter than its 2-Way Fit brother, the stiff and nimble Racing Zero is optimized for superb climbers like Scarponi, who dance up the steepest switchbacks in the Dolomites. But what good would a wheel be if it quickly led you up, without safely guiding you down? Of course, the smooth alloy braking surface is much more resistant to heat buildup, thereby reducing the probability of a catastrophic failure. But the Racing Zero also inspires confidence on high-speed descents, because its complex, thrice-milled machining process reduces any unnecessary peripheral weight and removes any possible tension areas of the rim. This resulting rim structure creates a strong, dynamic, and supremely balanced wheel platform that remains stable and reactive at speeds that would astound even Phil Liggett.
The Racing Zero hubs use a carbon fiber/aluminum shell construction, reducing weight (while adding some sex appeal) in comparison to the Racing 1's full-aluminum construction. The lightness theme carries through the smallest details, including aluminum axles and bladed aluminum spokes that mate to alloy nipples. Both the front and rear wheels use a 26mm deep rim, however the front wheel has 16 radially laced spokes and the rear has 21 spokes using Fulcrum's Two-to-One pattern. This arrangement, which features seven radial spokes on the rear non-drive side, and on the drive side, 14 tangentially laced spokes anchored to the oversized right side flange on the rear hub. The Two-to-One pattern ensures an instant, positive response to your pedal input and a better balance of spoke tension for greater durability.
Now available in the black-on-black Dark Label colorway, the stealthy Fulcrum Racing Zero Wheelset has a semi-aero profile rim and bladed spokes so you can be sure that they're ready for your next big event, whether it's slicing into the wind, cranking up mountainous switchbacks, or both. The Racing Zero features a new quick-release design that offers greater clamping force and more security. There are two freehub versions to choose from -- an aluminum-bodied Campy version and a steel-bodied Shimano/SRAM version.
