Racing 5 Wheelset

Don't let the price of the Fulcrum Racing 5 Wheelset deceive you. These wheels have been redesigned for 2014, and they're lighter, stiffer, and faster. They are reliable for every type of riding, from weekend training rides to the Thursday night crit series.

The front wheel on the Racing 5 features 20 radially-laced, bladed spokes to give you the best possible aerodynamic penetration. Two of the 2mm stainless steel spokes directly opposing the rim joint are actually slightly oversized to counterbalance the mass of the joint. Combined with reinforced spoke eyelets, this helps strengthen the wheel while ensuring a dynamic balance even at high speeds. The same goes for the rear wheel, which houses 24 spokes. A Two-to-One lacing pattern helps create a balanced and more reactive wheel with greater torsional stiffness for sprinting and climbing, without sacrificing durability. This makes the Racing 5 a great wheel for all-season training, but you just might wind up using it for gran fondos and cyclocross racing at the end of the season too.

To aid in aerodynamics and power transfer each wheel received different depth rims. The front is a shallow 24mm while the rear is 27.5mm. And while this seems like a minimal difference, the extra depth in the rear helps to transfer power more efficiently to the drivetrain. And who doesn't want a little extra power? Fulcrum's Racing 5 borrows its oversized hub profile from the vaunted family of Campagnolo race wheels, but instead uses aluminum shells with sealed high precision steel bearings cartridges for maximum longevity and rotational smoothness.

The Fulcrum Racing 5 Wheelset is available in Campagnolo and Shimano/SRAM versions. They come with Fulcrum quick-release skewers.
