Description

Stomp the competition.

When designing the 2013 Altamira 1.1 Road Frameset, Fuji took full advantage of its pro racers’ knowledge, resulting in a frame that’s competitive at the highest levels. The tapered head tube and massive, oversized bottom bracket shell yield incredible stiffness under power, yet unlike many race bikes, which can often be stiff enough to cause rider fatigue, it benefits from thoughtful details that enhance the all-day comfort. Its shapely carbon fiber construction keeps it feathery-light, and bears much of the responsibility for making the Altamira the race-rocket that it is.

Fuji built its race-ready Altamira from a high-modulus C15 carbon fiber blend. This particular blend is capable of producing incredibly low tube weights that deliver a stiff yet compliant road feel. By working with professional riders, Fuji's engineers were able to tweak the carbon tube shapes for an optimal, race-tuned feel. They kept the lower portion of the chassis stiff by mating the large down tube and chainstays to an oversized press-fit BB86 bottom bracket. The enlarged junction created an ultra-stiff pedaling platform, which, for you, means an efficient transfer of power directly into your rear wheel. Fuji mated the massive downtube to a tapered top tube, enhancing steering precision. Slender seatstays smooth out the road feel, avoiding the harsh ride that sometimes characterizes frames of this caliber.

The fork Fuji developed specifically for the Altamira was molded from a lightweight FC-330 carbon layup. Below its tapered carbon steerer, Fuji's signature flared upper-blade fork design, which works to provide both front end rigidity and aerodynamics, flows down into the slender carbon dropouts. The Altamira frameset includes an Oval integrated headset. The carbon fiber dropouts feature a replaceable hanger, to ensure that a written-off hanger is an inconvenience, and not a catastrophe.

The Fuji Altamira 1.1 Road Bike Frame - 2013 is available in five sizes, from 44cm to 58cm, and in the color Black/blue.

I am1.82M height and 250LBS. Could I fit for the frame of 55cm? My old bike is fuji 2009 Roubaixand its size is 54cm. I worry it is not strong for me.

Don't Wait

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I waited much to long to break into the carbon game. I should have done this years ago.. and at this price you shouldn't either. the pictures don't do this frame justice. it is really sweet with the massive down tube and pencil stays. the logos are a bit big. FUJI! but it is a stable ride super and compliant.. way better the the Klein Q Carbon I was on for years. I used the CC fit calculator solely and it was spot on. Go for it.

I am 250lbs. I am a cat 2 sprinter. Will this frame hold me and up to 2000 watts output?

Responded on

Hi William, we do not have a weight limit on this frame, so go for it. It might be the perfect frame for you. Thanks

Responded on

I'm 5'10" and 165lbs and put about 1500w into this frame in a M/L and it doesn't budge. It is the most comfortable, nimble bike I've ridden and would recommend to anyone.

Perfect Frame for the Right Person

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I wanted a new frame that would be stiff and efficient for occasional group ride sprints, be lightweight, but yet have some compliance for long 5-6hr days in the saddle on rough roads. This frame fit the description and lived up to it perfectly. I would purchase it again if I had it to do over. Disclaimer: I'm pretty lightweight at 5'9" and 135lb, so what is stiff to me might not be stiff to a 180lb crit racer.

Pros: Lightweight, compliant vertically for long rides, but stiff as a board laterally for sprinting and climbing. Love the BB86 bottom bracket, and the fact the frame has both Di2 and mechanical routing.

Cons: Specialize in crits and put out 1,000+ watts in the sprints, or do you top 180lbs? Look elsewhere, perhaps Fuju's SST crit frame. Internal mechanical routing would have been nice, but not a deal breaker. A lifetime warranty would have been preferable, but again not a deal breaker.

What is included in the price? Is it just the frame and fork? Also, the weight seems pretty high for just the frame, what is included in the weight number besides the frame? What is the weight of the frame itself?

Responded on

Javan,
The price if for the framet, which is the frame, fork, headset, and seatpost clamp. That is everything that is included int he weight measure. The photoed frame was a 55cm and weighed 1490g.

Wow! Smoooth & Fast! FANTASTIC PRICE

If you're thinking about building up a frameset...do yourself a favor and buy the Fuji Altamira 1.1
For $880 you get a Grand Tour worthy frameset. I swapped out my components from my other bike and added a Shimano FD-7900, Thomson Masterpiece 31.6mm seat post, a Wheels Manufacturing Press Fit BB86 angular contact bearing bottom bracket, and Jagwire Pro Cable kit.
I rode my new Fuji for 2 1/2 hours on the second ride and I felt like I was on a quick ride to the local coffee shop after. Absolutely the smoothest bike I've ever ridden.
I'm 6' and weigh 175 lbs. I ride the size 55 frame, with the 57.5cm effective top tube. The fit is perfect!
Buy this bike- unbelievable value & fun!

Altamira 1.1 Frameset

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I purchased this frame a couple of weeks ago and I love it. It is super light and super fast as spec out. This is a high end sleeper that no one notices, but it matches up to the cream of the crops. Very good bang for the buck.

Looks like some Altamiras are made from C-15 carbon (this one) and then some are C-6. What's the difference?

Responded on

The higher the number the lighter the frame due to carbon specs and molding process. I went from a C4 Ultegra 6700 to a C15 DA 9000 and saved 2lbs.
