Item # FSA0038

FSA championed the concept of the wing-style handlebar years ago. They provided riders with the first-ever alternative to the traditional round shape of bar tops. The flattened cross section nicely molded to the shape of loose fists -- exactly what many of us have when we climb with our hands on the tops. With the Wing Pro Compact, FSA mates this wing-style top with a shallow ("compact") drop. At a 125mm drop and 80mm reach with round drops, you can easily find your sweet spot in the drops without having to force your hands to conform to the flat area of an anatomic drop.

The Wing Pro Compact is made from double-butted, tapered, shot-peened, and anodized aluminum. The center clamping section is purposely wide, at 120mm, so that you'll be able to clamp on accessories, like aero bars. They come in a 31.8mm clamp only and are available in 40, 42, and 44cm c-c.

Nice Bars - good value

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Nice bars - the replaced a set of round bars on my bike that hurt my hands when riding with my hands on the tops. The finish on the bars is nice and glossy on the tops and center, very attractive. In response to the review suggesting there's not enough room for a head light, there's plenty of room for my Cyglolite head light on the bars, plus a K-edge mount, plus my bar top brake levers before the bar tapers flat. Mine are the 44cm bars. My only pick on the bars is it would be nice to have some markings on the drops for position marking of the STI levers. Also a note, due to the shape of the bars it seems they take a bit more bar tape to wrap - the Fizik kit that I got had to be pulled pretty tight and not use a figure 8 around the STI levers to be able to go far enough to complete the wrap.

what headlight could be mounted on these bars?

Responded on

There is enough room to mount a standard 31.8 clamp light next to the stem, provided that the light doesn't have an overly wide base. I have no issue with my Bike Ray or Magicshine.

Love These Bar's

I have these on both my bikes. just the right combination of drop and reach so transitions between hood's and drops is quick and seemless, very comfortable in both positions. the continuous curve through the drop is perfect, I've had ergo shaped pars and found they put to much load in all the wrong places on my palms when in the drops, no problems since switching to these bars. The wing shape is great, I have mine wrapped fully and find the flatter shape feals better on the hands when you want to take it easy and sit upright with your hands on the top's. Unlike the other reviewer I was able to mount a light to them, there is a short section of round bar on either side of the stem providing just enough room to mount accesories to the bar like a light or clip on aerobars. there is a little finagling depending on how you have your cables routed but it is doable. I dont see myself using another bar unless these end up discontinued, in which case I might stock up on several pair's.

Nice up top, comfortable on the drops

I had a perfectly good set of compact carbon bars on my Pinerello Paris, but just not the shape or feel for me. Tried the Wing Pros on my Cervelo S2. Loved them. Comfortable up top while climbing; comfortable on the drops while descending or riding tempo. Feel and fit is subjective. These bars work for me.

no nightlight

This is a nice handlebar but manufacturers don't recognize this shape for add-ons like a headlight. If you ride at night, especially in hotter climes, a night ride is great but you won't be doing it with this handlebar. It would be nice if someone could mount a headlight on the handlebar stem.

I'm able to squeeze both of mine on. It's tight, but doable. I have a Niterider Minewt 350 (separate battery, not the integrated model) that I have to loop beneath the cables near the stem, and a Serfas USL 5 that works wherever. Both have elastic attachments and work just fine.

I agree that it's not as easy as other handlebars I've used, especially with the thick tape I have on (service course).

If you like the shape of the bar but not the flat tops, the FSA Omega Pro Compact is the exact same bar with a standard round top.

Comfortable Bar

My first set of road handlebars and I love them. The top where your hands rest when you are sitting up is nice and flat and is comfortable for taking a break from the drop position. Now that I finally got them adjusted right, the drop is comfortable as well. Highly recommended.
