No rides barred.

You probably don't need anyone to tell you about the benefits of carbon fiber, but we'll do it anyway: it's light, strong, and, when blended with Kevlar, as in the FSA SL-K Compact Carbon Handlebar, seriously tough. So, if you're looking to lighten your setup while boosting durability and aesthetics, the SL-K is a killer place to start.

By constructing the SL-K as a single piece of material (called a "monocoque", if you care) FSA was able to ensure extreme rigidity for powerful sprinting and precise handling. Carbon dampens road vibrations and keeps the weight low, and Kevlar fibers reduce fatigue, so your bars will stay rock solid longer than pure carbon bars. FSA was also careful to strength the SL-K in key areas, most notably under the clamps, so the stress points are extra beefy. Clamping areas have also been textured to increase security, and FSA included internal cable routing for a sleek, smooth look and more comfortable hand positioning.

Ok but don't like the angle of the tops

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've tried ALOT of different carbon handlebars trying to find just the right one and this is close. Lever reach is good and I like the shape of the drops. My only issue is with the flattened tops which are not parallel to the drops. The result is that instead of a neutral, horizontal position, the tops end up angled back toward the rider which I don't find comfortable. I had this same problem with the K-Force bars.

Comfortable and beautiful

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Very comfortable shape. Really smooths out rough roads and chip-seal. Great hand positions. Shallow drop is great for comfortable extended time in the drops. Good value.
