Item # FSA0218

The FSA Omega Compact handlebar has a shallow drop and a short reach, so they're good for people who don't ordinarily reach for their drops and they're good for people who don't like much of a change of their reach between hand positions.

A critical point of distinction between the Omega Compact and the FSA Wing Compact is the fact that the Omega has traditional round tops, not the flattened ergonomic "Wing" tops of the Wing Compact.

One interesting detail about the Omega Compact is that they're exactly 1cm narrower at the hoods than their "official" measurement. In other words, 42cm bars are 42cm wide (c-c) at the drops, but 41cm at the hoods.

The FSA Omega Shallow Handlebar has 125mm of drop and 80mm of reach. It has a modified ergo shape that is more rounded on the drops than typical ergo-design handlebars. It has both front and rear grooves for cable routing. The center section bulges to 31.8mm diameter. The bars are made from double-butted and shot-peened AL6066 tubing. The graphics are in White. The finish is Black anodizing. The bars come in 40, 42, and 44cm (measured center-to-center) widths. The weight is 300g.

Alloy bar with lots of value

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have two of these, one on a road bike and one on a cross bike that use for road training. I have the 44cm units. They are measured in euro size. The only other alloy bar I like is a Salsa cowbell 3 (slight flare in the drops). The Salsa is a bit wider in the same measurement because of the American measurement. I've done hundreds of miles on both Omegas and they work well. Shallow drop and good hand position.

Great bars, great price

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I just put a set of these on my 'cross bike. All of my road bikes are running the similar Wing Pro Compact. It is a great shape, especially for those with smaller hands as it makes reaching the brakes very easy.

This older Competitive Cyclist review does a great job of showing how the bars fit.

Low cost option

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

this is a great bar. Short drop, shallow bend, comfy grip in lots of positions, and the price is right! Suprisingly light for the price, and stiff enough for the casual rider.

Great bar, shallow drop

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is an awesome bar if you don't need a super deep drop. I can actually stay in the drops much longer than any other bar I have used, which is great because the flats on the drops are huge and comfortable.

Solid, cheap, light, everything you could hope for, as long as you don't want a drop that is deeper.
