BH SPEEDROM/SHIMANO 105 COMPLETE BIKE

If there’s one not-so-hidden truth in cycling, it’s that Shimano’s excellence extends well below their top Dura-Ace component group. Many of us rode 105 components as we earned our place in the group. Did it hold us back? Surely not. That honor would’ve gone to our ego, or searing out-of-shape legs, or overcooking a corner with hopes to surprise the rest of the bunch we rode with. No, the BH Speedrom/Shimano 105 Complete Bike is more like a gateway to the wonderful world of cycling. Its affordability lets you into the club without kicking you in the back pocket as an initiation rite. And the thoughtful component selection will last for miles and miles and years to come.

BH makes the Speedrom frame and fork out of carbon fiber, like their high end Ultralight and G5. But where those two utilize blends of high modulus fibers, the Speedrom uses less expensive carbon. The difference is a matter of grams. BH engineers developed the lay-up to deliver a smooth ride and to resist flex in the bottom bracket area. This way, the Speedrom sprints and climbs like an extension of your own legs.

We have it outfitted here with Shimano 105 derailleurs and shifters, precisely what gives it that smooth Shimano flavor. FSA gets the nod for the Omega Compact crankset and the Omega Compact handlebar. These are two component items that we’d have appreciated as we started cycling. The crankset would’ve made the climbs that much more bearable until we learned to embrace the pain, and we could’ve spent more time in the drops as we worked on our flexibility. BH Titan brakes get you stopped and their alloy seatpost props up a Prologo Kappa saddle. The wheelset consists of Shimano R501 wheels and Vitorria Zafiro 700 x 23mm tires.

The BH Speedrom/Shimano 105 Complete Bike is Red and comes in four sizes – Small, Medium, Large, and X-Large.
