Don't worry though, we have a lot more 26-inch Suspension Forks in stock than that.
FOX Racing Shox 36 FLOAT 160 FIT RLC Fork - 2012 $0.00
In Fox's world, fully featured doesn't necessarily mean fat. But if you want the lightest fork available to float over the trail, you'll want to be on a Fox Float. The Fox 36 Float 160 FIT RLC Fork is the lightest 160mm (6.3") travel fork out there, but it gives away nothing in the stiffness and strength department. It has 36mm upper tubes that guarantee precise tracking through the nastiest rock gardens, and the 20mm thru-axle at the bottom keeps it all tight and secure.
The 36 Float is air sprung. This is a big part of how they can make it so feathery. The air spring is tuned to provide a plush ride at the top of the stroke with a smooth ramp up to avoid bottoming at the end. Though it lacks an external adjustment like the TALAS forks, the travel of the 36 Float can be adjusted internally with the addition of travel spacers under the air piston. They can be added in 10mm increments and the fork can be reduced down to 100mm.
The right leg houses the FIT damper. It's a cartridge type that seals the suspension fluid away from any gas or contaminant infiltration. This ...the 36mm stanchions offer awesome stiffness for burly riders, and the Kashima Coat and all new SKF wiper seals make it buttery smooth... provides a number of advantages. There is a reduced volume of oil compared to an open bath design, thereby reducing the fork weight, and the oil cannot mix with air and thus maintains consistent damping properties no matter how rough the trail is or how hard you push the fork. The FIT damper has a single layer rubber bladder that allows fluid expansion when the internals of the fork get hot on extended downhill runs. This also helps to maintain consistent fork performance from top to bottom.
The FIT RLC damper has external controls for low-speed compression and rebound damping. They offer a wide range of adjustment to tune the fork to suit your ride preferences and/or the demands of the terrain. It also has a lockout with an easy-to-reach lever on the right side of the fork crown. A threshold adjustment is there as well to allow you to dial in the force required to "blow" through the lockout when you hit a large bump.
Kashima Coat returns on the upper tubes, though Fox has made strides to ensure that the color consistency is better this year so both stanchions will look the same. This coating starts with raw aluminum tubes, and they add molybdenum disulfide via an induction process that deposits the material into the surface to the effect of 70 billion pores per cm squared. The MoS2 adds lubricity, extending the life of the tubes as well as greatly reducing friction. This reduces stiction and makes the fork more responsive than ever over small bumps, an impressive feat for a fork already regarded as having the best small bump performance.
The Fox 36 Float 160 FIT RLC Fork has powder coated lower legs and crown in Gloss White. It has a 1-1/8" to 1.5" tapered steerer tube. The beefy 36mm chassis is stiff and strong, made even better by the inclusion of a 20QR thru-axle system. It makes for super precise steering and wheel removal is painless, quick, and tool-free. Fox 36 160mm forks have post-style disc brake mounts that will accept a direct caliper mount for 160mm rotors.
US Fox dealers are prohibited from shipping Fox Forks outside the US.
- Kashima Coat reduces stiction and adds durability without adding weight
- Fox Isolation Technology (FIT) prevents the oil and air inside the fork from mixing for optimal performance in any weather extremes
- The 20mm QR thru-axle for a super-stiff and durable front end
- Lever-actuated lockout eliminates fork bob during climbing and can be adjusted to compress slightly to improve tracking or lock out completely
- Low-speed compression adjustment allows the rider to dial the fork's feel on smaller bumps and washboard surfaces
