32 Talas 27.5 140 CTD Fork - 2015

The 2015 FOX Racing Shox 32 TALAS 27.5 140 FIT CTD Fork lets you take your trail bike climb aggressively, without sacrificing control on descents. Lower the fork when it's time to grind up, and the lightweight chassis and precise steering will make it a more enjoyable experience. And when it comes time to head back down? Well, just flip it back into the full-travel mode, and enjoy the smooth stroke that FOX riders have sworn by for years.

Like recent generations of Fox's Factory series forks, the TALAS controls its stroke with the venerable FIT damper. The 'FIT' acronym stands for Fox Isolated Technology. And, unlike a traditional open bath system, FIT means that the damper fluid is sealed in an air-tight bladder. This prevents contamination, which improves the consistency of the damper on long descents.

TALAS stands for Travel Adjust Linear Air Spring. And true to the name, a quick flip of the spring side fork cap adjusts the travel from 140mm to 110mm, and back again. Accordingly, the 120mm setting lowers the axle to crown height by 30mm, which effectively lowers your handlebars and steepens the head angle, which improves your climbing control. And the 2015 version of TALAS has an updated the spring rate, with greater resistance to bottoming out than previous TALAS springs.

The 32 TALAS comes with refined Kashima coated stanchions, which offer reduced friction, and in turn better small-bump compliance, than the previous Kashima coat. Essentially, the gold outer layer remains the same—what has changed is the base anodizing, which results in an even smoother surface than before. This is in addition to a new, lower-friction lubricating oil, which adds to the dramatically smoother ride. In addition to the friction reducing benefits, Kashima coating is harder than standard stanchion coatings. This equates to a longer wear life, as well as more supple suspension action.

The trail-ready, race weight, 32 chassis remains nearly unchanged moving into the 2015 model year, although subtle refinements have shaved grams off of the lowers. It still has ample stiffness for most riders, thanks to the massive tapered steerer tube, and 15mm QR axle assembly.
