I love this short its very confortable! great looking. I use even as casual clothes.
+1 for sale price. fits comfortably and is true to size. Picked up the black camo but looks like plain black unless you look up close. length is just right for me not too long. i'm about 5'8 with an inseam of 30" and the shorts right below my knees.
every year a bit worse...
i like sergeants because they fir me so well & are pretty durable. i do not care if they fade or discolor, they are for mtbing, not a fashion show. but i have bought a new pair each year since '09 & each year they have gone downhill. 2 years ago the cargo pockets were nice & big, the following year they got smaller & stayed that way since. this past year they eliminated the separate little pocket for the wipe cloth & attached it in the hand pocket where if you leave it, it gets tangled on whatever is in that pocket.
man, what i would not give to find some leftover '09 fox sergeants...
Get some Fox Dirtpaw gloves with these shorts and you are set!
excellent fit both for cycling and casual plus cant beet that red color
i wear a 38 so they were tight, i got a 40 and cinched them down, fit below the knee, great pockets and feel durable. have worn for a few weeks now, looks like they faded kinda quick , oh well.

Sweet shorts, run kinda big
sun glasses cloth is legit high end, they are light but still rugged strong material that feel nice and are flexible.
Wash With COLD Water and you'll be fine!
Some previous reviews said these are crap. Wrong! I have these in red and black and neither will fade if you wash them in cold water and keep them away from a dryer. Little things like that go a long way! No fading and no bleeding from the red shorts which is awesome. I almost didn't buy them because of that review. These are awesome shorts, totally functional. Just like anything else, take care of it and it will take care of you! Get em!
Great deal on sale
I like the shorts. Pros: The chamois is top notch, and at $40 from Chainlove, can't beat that. Actual useable pockets. Not restrictive at all.
Cons: A little long on the inseam for shorter folks ( like me). Not the best ventilation, definitely warmer than my oakley shorts.
BUT, for early fall, spring and such, they're great.
Durable and blood-proof.
I have the "graphite" color shorts. They are great. Comfortable and soft material with internal waist adjustments (those velcro ones that Burton snowboard pants have). I crashed and got blood on the leg (they are long enough to cover your knees = blood on your knees gets on them). The blood came out with some Hydrogen Peroxide and a little scrubbing. (H2O2 is great for removing blood). Buy some, they rock.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars because of price. If it wasn't for the fact that it was on sale, I wouldn't have bought them.
That said, it is true to size, love that they give you belt loops as well as waist adjustments internally.
The chamois can be easily removed which is a huge plus!!
Pockets are generous, love the detachable sun glasses cleaning cloth, breathes well and very comfortable.
I also use these as casual shorts.
Really nice short, just make sure you wash them in COLD water guys (Red cotton fades nomatter what in warm or hot). tons of room, shammy is great. adjustable straps on the inside of waist is genius, no bunching at the waist. Hint hint other manufacturers.
Fox Sergeant Shorts
These are pretty cool shorts. Great for summer riding and warmer weather. Pretty much seem just like cotton shorts. Little baggy but not too bad. Picked up the red color, which seems to fade a little.
Great for warm weather though, breathe well and whisk away the sweat. Mud seems to stain a little, in the NW, we see more wet weather then others.
Come with compression shorts which are great as well. Not too big or bulky, just a butt pad.
Pockets are not that deep and only held by small patches of velcro. I wouldn't trust a wallet in my back pocket when wearing them riding. And it seems to catch other things when in the laundry.
I bought a pair of these last year. The Fit is nice. right on. Long length also. They suck, because Im on my 3rd pair. The first pair became extremely discolored after 2 rides. ok, so i sent them back to backcountry. The 2nd pair did the same thing with discoloration, an also ripped on the pockets after 3 rides. crappy.... So after sending back again for a 3rd pair, i have had the same problem again. Just poor quality...$90 for some crap shorts. Fox should be able to do bettter. You should purchase these as a disposable bike short.!
Fox sergeant shorts
These shorts are awsome and plenty of room to move but i did buy them a little big because i have big legs, but they have belt loops so that works great if they are a little big and they do seem to run true to size.
