Built to be airborne.

The folks at Fox have a talent for making high-performance mountain bike shorts look like shorts that you would wear kicking around town. Fox Racing's Sergeant Shorts are made with a removable liner and two-way stretch fabric to make them comfortable while you're hammering singletrack. To look at them, though, you'd think they were just stylish casual shorts.

The Sergeant Short is well-equipped. Quick-dry cotton construction ensures cool, dry comfort, even on all-day epics, and 2-way stretch eliminates binding for an unlimited range of motion. The removable liner makes the Sergeant as comfortable as spandex tights, but without the inevitable comments from the peanut gallery. The other benefit of the removable liner is that you can use it with your other shorts or with softshell baggie pants for winter riding.

The Sergeant Cargo Short is also loaded with pocket space. Two hand pockets are convenient while you're wearing the Sergeant as a casual short, and the cargo pockets allow you to carry things riding without them digging into your leg. A specialized media pocket with audio interface takes care of your music player, and a large thigh cargo pocket with hook-and-loop flap adds more valuable storage.

Great Shorts

  • Gender:Male
  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit:True to size

This shorts are great! i got them on sale which was even better. They come with a chamois which is removable. That i found to be a plus. i am a size 32 and order the a size 32 and it fits me perfect, no need for a belt which is what i was looking for. The fabric is fantastic and breathable. They look better that on the photograph, you can even wear them to hang out another big plus.

Too long and pockets are kind of useless

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit:True to size

I ordered these thinking they were the same inseam as my Fox Ranger 12 inch. They are at least 2-3 inches longer and hang over my knee when trying to pedal. Although they stretch nice it pulls a bit while pedaling. For a day of riding chairlifts these would work great but not for long climbs and trail riding. Also the material is very heavy and thick. I could see these getting pretty hot creating some extreme swass. The pockets are also pretty much useless. The back pockets are too shallow to fit a basic wallet. And the hand pockets up front are shallow with no zippers allowing your stuff to scatter along the trail. The side cargo pockets are closed by two small velcro closures which may or may not open up while riding but I wouldn't trust my car keys in them. Construction seems quality though. Just not for me.

Comfortable and well sewn

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:Runs large

Nice shorts. They are sturdy but still breathe well in the heat. Liner is nice, but is bulkier than I am used to. I expect these will hold up well considering how substantial the fabric is, but I haven't owned them long enough yet to really say if that is for sure the case.

Fit -Fit is a little too large and the shorts are extra baggy and long.

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

I've been using some older Fox Ranger, I like the rangers but I needed some new shorts. These are heavier duty, which I like on most days. The super hot days I'm going to need something lighter and more breathable. The pocket space is ideal.
The stretch on these is awesome I really like the way they feel.
The removable liner is a plus for me. then i don't have to wear my chammy out and about
